    Default Let's talk weaves....

I just had four rows of tracks braided and sewn in.... does anybody else get these type of extensions installed?

I have found that, for whatever reason, caucasian girls tend to stick to the caucasian salons, Latina girls stick to the latin salons, and black girls migrate towards the black salons..... If you ask me this is f'd up! I have never found a caucasian salon that does anything other than strand by strand fusion methods, or taped in wefts. IMO, strand by strand is way inferior to what I just had installed, and costs 100x more! But then, if you go to a black salon and ask for a sew in, you have to do your research and find one that has a lot of experience with caucasian hair, since it's totally different to work with. I was lucky enough to find a "black" salon that does have experience with my hair type. She had to mix coarser loose hair in with my cornrows, and reinforce them a little extra. She told me that my hair is just a little too silky and that the braids loosen much easier.

These extensions, if done correctly, help grow your hair out! I saw real before and after photos from my stylist, alopecia and burn victims, that with the right types of braids, were able to regrow their hair! There are certain braid techniques, certain ways they tie the wefted hair onto the braids, etc.

I also love the fact that most of my natural hair is braided up, and all the hair out is my extension hair. My extension hair has a much prettier curl pattern than my natural hair! This method is ideal if you want to change your hair texture, or completely change your look! You can braid up your natural hair, and braid in whatever type/texture of hair you feel like, as long as it blends somewhat with your natural hair at your crown.

Are there any other ladies who do tracks or sew ins? Any tips for caucasian hair? I know I can't wash as much, but I have to wash more than someone with kinkier/coarser hair. So far I"m using the Queen Helene Royal Curl shampoo and curling creme (the conditioner sucks) and I'm loving it!

I like weaves. They are awesome. I usually get 3-4 tracks sewn in (doubled up on each braid). They last about a month and half. It costs roughly $100 for each installation and looks like a million bucks.

I want to try out a net weave next. http://fashionbombdaily.com/2010/10/...rielle-corney/

I have tried everything and was actually going to go with the net weave that Sophia mentioned next. In my experience with braid ins it killed my hair. The braids were so tight. When it came to me taking the braids out I had knots and it was a mess.

Do you all splurge on hair that you are only going to keep on for one-two months? Medium grade works for me.

Right now I am wearing lace fronts and love them. I just don't love not being able to get a bit rough and having to think about it flying off all the time.

I'm black so I always get a full head with my bangs and some top hair left out. It grows my hair out so much and my hair is often thicker when It comes out too. Now that my hair is past my shoulder I don't do weaves or even clip ins unless the outfit calls for it. For caucasian hair use the dry shampoo in between washes and don't forget to moisturize your fake hair because the natural oils won't get to it. Also don't forget to take breaks between redo's since your hair isn't as thick as the stereotypical black hair you could suffer some hair loss from prolonged stress.

I wash about every other day, but don't use heat at all. I read about using a point tip hair dye applicator to apply shampoo/conditioner/whatever in between the tracks..... I don't want to go crazy and loosen them up though!

Yes I did! I should've taken a pic yesterday because my hair looked FIERCE! Between that and my little black crop tube top and neon orange skinny jeans, I was feeling hot....

By the way, I have an AMAZING hair source here in Houston! I have Indian virgin curly hair, but she also gets wavy and straight. Each bundle looks different, different coarseness, curl, length, thickness, luster, etc. So I was able to hand pick my hair. I saw a girl here a couple months ago with beautiful curly hair, and I asked her about it, and she told me it was a weave and she got it from www.myadorablehair.com, and she has had it for a year and loves it, etc. When I checked out the website I realized that it's based out of Houston, so I went and met the lady who owns it personally and picked out my hair! She told me I could wash as often as I like and do whatever I want to it, and it's the first time that my weave hair I've bought actually smelled like shampoo and nothing else, no weird chemical fake hair processed smell.

So if anyone needs any good curly hair.... let me know!

I am an idiot. I was thinking of yucky glue. Sewn in without a mess would be perfectly fine. I want to try a cap so bad, but I don't want my hair to be pulled out.

She came referred to me by a trainer at my gym, Fit. She ended up fixing what another weave salon had messed up so bad, I had tracks falling out after a week. She sold me when she showed me before and after photos of women with thinning/balding hair, and how it grew out over six months to a years time just by her braiding technique with weaves. She guarantees her work, 100% money back guarantee.

Working now. I tend to get ripped off by people. About how much should I expect to pay for this kind of weave?

One more silly question. Do I need one bundle or two for a full head weave? I plan on buying 16 or 18".

2 bundles, always, you never know when you'll need it, it sucks ordering and then coming up short. Usually bundles are about 4oz so 8 gives you a full set of hair. I prefer 2 bundles and a leave out, or 2 bundles and a lace closure. @miss1 I would do some research, many people have different opinions on good hair. I would spend hours on google, then youtube as lots of ladies upload their video reviews. I'm trying to go with Arjuni hair which has more good reviews but the process takes too long. But then, I'm just now hearing about a salon in Houston, TX called Jazzy Girls that I hear sells good hair. I'm talking like 4-6 months before you get it in the mail.

I've had every type of extension (sew in, micro links, great lengths, tree braids, invisible)... My fine, colored hair hates them!

I don't use it personally but I put my dancer buddy onto a halo hairpiece. It takes 30 seconds to put in and it's one solid piece on a wire. Looks natural and way easier then clip ins
