You need to contact the police and file a police report. Someone was using my SS# before I was born until I was 15 when I went to open a debit card and the police showed up thinking I was the fraudulent one. You have to get the police inolved and they will take care it. Companies won't listen to you if you telling them "oh I don't owe that! close it! thats not me!" unless its backed by a police report.

I saw a thing on the news were identity thieves get a hold of kids socials because most wont moniter their credit until they're way older. Yeah contact them right away. It's weird this person hasn't opened more accounts with your social.

Obviously this is not me. I was born in the 90s. This was opened far before my parents were even married so it's not like they created it for me. It's clearly hurting my credit because the balance outweighs the limit and it's continuing to grow.

I filed a dispute online but I was wondering if there is anything else I should do to expedite getting this removed. I want to move soon and I can't have a bad credit score.
You contact the credit reporting agencies. You report identity theft on your report to them. It isnt just a dispute. They will put a fraud hold on your credit report. That means any time your report is pulled you are called and a flag appears on the report so lenders are more careful.

Also contact the bank where the credit card is. Every bank has a different policy. But at least that way the card can be closed. Because the balence is small you have a greater chance of getting it written off as a fraudulent amount without alot of problems. Legally they could hold you responsible for a portion of it though.
The only way to get it removed from your report is thru the bank.

Do you have a sibling? Back in the day parents used to get social security for all the kids at once. So in some families all the social security numbers are only a couple numbers away. Could it be a family members account that showed up on yours by mistake?

I would call the bank and try to find out all the info I can. The credit reporting agencies or cops are not going to do the leg work for you. It is up to you to find out what happened. By finding out how this showed up on your report you will find out how to prevent this from happening in the future and get it removed faster.
