Default Building a website when you're technology illiterate

I've found some companies that will do my website for me, but they're all at least $600+. I've heard that WordPress is good, but I don't know where to start with building. I was going to go through escortsite.com but I saw in an earlier thread that LovelyMe said they weren't good, plus I do want my site to be mobile friendly. Help please!

Places like GoDaddy.com have templates for building sites. They will host your domain and website pretty inexpensively also. Plus they have cool commercials with Danica!

Use escortsite. It is made for dingbat escorts. :eyeroll: If you don't know what you are doing it may be the best route for you. When you get more experience you can fiddle around with wordpress, templates or have a site designed.

I know LovelyMe doesn't like escortsite.com websites, and yes a more "professional" website is much better, HOWEVER...

I used an escortsite.com site for the first two years I was independent due to it's ease of use and my own laziness in learning updated html & css. I used to write straight html code for websites, but that was 10 years ago lol so I forgot much of what I knew.

You can get a simple escortsite.com website set up in one day. Having ANY website will help your business, so do it. It is better than no website at all. You can have a better website built down the road. I did extremely well, even with an escortsite.com site. There are ladies in the TER national top 100 who still use escortsite.com, so there you go.

I do not recommend WordPress.com until you have more knowledge. Free wordpress.com sites contain the tagline "Just another WordPress site" (i.e. you're not anything special) and may have some restrictions concerning adult content. To build a good one, you really need web/html knowledge. If you're feeling ambitious, go for it. WordPress.org requires even more knowledge. Wordpress.org is software that you run through cpanel on your web server. I use wordpress.org software, but html and back end website admin knowledge is required.

    Incorrect, O.

That "Just another wordpress site" tagline can be easily changed in the wordpress settings - NO html knowledge required. T
This goes for wordpress.com and wordpress.org. Seriously though.. I don't know why wordpress is so hard for people to figure out. It's so friggin easy. What really helped me was youtube tutorials. I use wordpress.org and I know very little about html. I simply used the one click installer to install wordpress in my hostgator cpanel. I do agree with that you have to be somewhat techy to use wordpress but you don't have to be a brainiac. If she actually spent a day playing around with wordpress she would figure it out. People need to start being more patient. Someone mentioned Go daddy. I do not use godaddy for hosting and I would never. Godaddy is known for helping LE is investigations (sharing your info with them). Keep that in mind.

Escortsite isn't a site I would recommend in this day and age. It's literally frowned upon these days. You will come across as another clueless girl trying to escort but hey if it's easier for you knock yourself out.

I do NOT recommend wix. It's slow to load and most of the site I have seen built there looks so tacky. Now tease and Danielle's site looks amazing! I think it's because most of the ladies here are smart biotches .

I hired Bella from http://highheeldesigns.com/ she did my site and she is fantastic to work with some are using cutie-tools and cuite-tools is in a wordpress platform but they made it were you don't need to know alot of the higher skills for web design. I rather cuite-tools over escortsite. when I started out I was using escortsite I was doing really when then whhen I took a hiatus I lost everything from escortsite. I do not like wix a lot of girls use it but its extremely slow in loading and the flash platform that wix runs in is annoying to look at.

Minnie, I'm currently using Cutie-tools. What makes you think it's on a wordpress platform? It's not.

Lovelyme, Cutiestools websites look AMAZING and they're a good price IMO. You pay per month and not all $839.52 for the year up front, right?

Ahh I didn't realize "Just another WordPress site" on WordPress.com sites could be changed. I've seen it on so many sites that I thought it was required because it's a free blog/website platform. I guess folks are just too lazy to change it. I have never used WordPress.com or even looked at the back end/login.

I agree that WordPress.org is pretty easy (for you & I) but I recommended against it for the OP under the assumption that she was starting with zero web knowledge. If she had web knowledge, she wouldn't be asking about "Building a website when you're technology illiterate". Most people who have never leased a server or bought hosted webspace even know what cPanel is, let alone how to use it (and not fuck things up). Hell, most people don't even know how to buy a domain name (privately) and buy hosting.

We're not in total disagreement regarding escort-site, but I don't believe it's quite as bad as you do. Any website is better than none to get started.

I also recommend against using Wix. Wix uses flash, so those sites can't be viewed on iPads and most (or all?) cell phones.

I found wordpress remarkably easy when I started. If you are using your own domain try the swift theme for wordpress it's very newbie friendly.

YES Their customer service is AMAZING. I hosted with servage before and it was a horrific experience with their CS.
I heart hostgator. Obenta, I agree. An escortsite website is better than no website. However, no website is better than
    a website that's a clusterfuck confusing.

Hey if you're looking for a website design we can definitely help you out with that. We offer professionally designed websites built on word press so you'll have access to the back end admin panel of your site. We offer a lot of features for your site and we can set it up in one of two ways for you, a membership or store front style site. Email me or visit our site and we'll work out something to get your setup with a nice clean modern visit that not only looks bad ass but is fully functional.

Okay, I usually don't make a point to "call out" other members in this forum, but this individual is purchasing wordpress templates and charging their customers a premium for it. I've personally seen their "designs" on popular template sites for around $35. Please don't hire this company thinking you're getting a custom site.

We don't actually charge a thing for our services its completely FREE upfront, we do however charge 30% of generated revenue so we payout 70% to the model of the site which we find is more than reasonable for a payout. We manage the site for you so you don't need any background experience with websites as well as flip the bill for everything even the use of our payment processor account with CCBill. We offer support when ever you need it and even will watermark your videos/pictures if you so wish us to for you at no additional charges. Yes you are correct we do have a "template" for our site EliteGirlz, it works just fine for us and we don't have the need/time to customize it currently. We do however listen to the requests and desires of all of our models and make sure every site does exactly what they want it to. Any changes to the site that someone wants we are more than happy to make for them so that the site fits exactly what there looking for. You can pay someone to create you a site and then hand it off to you with no future help or support from them as well as look for your own payment processor that will accept your content, and please never choose someone that says PayPal is okay there just full of shit. I do appreciate you bringing this up as I should have listed more details to our site/services, I am glad to see that NikkiDarling is looking out for everyone as a Senior Member.

When I see multiple typos / bad grammar in a web site's introduction, I wonder how thorough they can be...

Miss McKenna actually taught me how to do a site on wix, and I have the mobile site also (upgraded)- my only complaint is that it requires flash, so guys on their ipads cant see it well. Another friend uses cutie-tools and her site is fantastic and she said she pays $60/month. I love how easy wix is to edit, but she seems to be able to edit easily too. After I get completely "settled in" I'm going to switch over- but for now, wix is great- no ads, my own domain etc, and super easy to build.

Moonfruit, like wix, has easy to use, yet professional looking templates.
