Default Deductions where to draw the line.

I have talked to some other girls in my club and they said you can write off a bunch of things I'm not sure if you can write off.
#1 Non stripper shoes that I wear in the club. I bought 2 pairs of shoes that I did not buy from a stripper store but they are over 4 inches so I wear them to the club, can those be written off?
#2 I just got juvederm and botox a girl in the locker room said I could write it off since looking nice is part of my job?
I guess my question is where do you draw the line for write offs?

Yeah they have this rule melonie use to talk about and my old accountant( who died) told me, it's the housewife rule, if the average housewife or women does it, you can't write it off. Melonie could explain better, provide links. Just to add I had a girlfriend who was audited back in the day when a ton of scores girls were and the auditor would not let her take gowns as a write off because he said she could wear them out. Tanning, cosmetic procedures and all that are touchy. Like botm said be choosy how much you write off in correlation to what you claim.

I meant to say cosmetic procedures and tanning and hair app and stuff like that aren't allowed.

The US congress has specifically legislated that 'cosmetic surgery' cannot be tax deductible. While the IRS has established an exception for 'professional sized' breast implants ( over 1000cc each ) , botox etc., rhinoplasty, liposuction etc. will not fly as business expense tax deductions if subjected to a serious audit.

The botox was the largest thing I've purchased this year except for rent. It was a big splurge for me. I don't really spend beyond my means. No new cars just save save save

Costumes are deductible, lingerie and shoes are not. At the very least put costumes in the memo line of your check and enter that expense in Other - Costumes on your ledger. Better still, have a receipt from a company that sells costumes. Audit proof? No, but better than buying something at Victoria's Secret on your personal credit card. Remember, you are in business. Businesses have ledgers, contemporaneous records, their own bank accounts and pay their own bills.
