Smiley Studio in New York City

Hi everyone, I searched for a relevant thread and didn't find one so if you know and can redirect me that would be great! I am moving to New York City to finish school and I would like to continue camming. I know studios are a ripoff but unfortunately I'm always living with roommates.... I need to find a physical studio in New York City and any information on how to do so would be so appreciated! Currently I am camming through streamate also through a physical studio in Arizona. If anyone has a question for me in regards to my experiences I welcome those as well. Thanks in advance!!

    Yeah, haha, same here.
You inspired me to look, though! I'm setting my resourceful new yorker friend on a grand studio search at the moment. . .

I don't know of any studios in NYC but I was born and raised there and I know for a fact that you can rent cheap basement apartments in Wakefield (in the Bronx) for less than $500/month. When I lived in Wakefield I rented a one bedroom basement for $700/month utilities included, and that was considered on the pricey side for that neighborhood. My ex lived a couple of blocks away from me and he rented a larger one bedroom basement than mine for only $400/month. It's not exactly legal due to zoning laws but no one cares, I lived in my illegal basement apartment which I paid for in cash every month for four years and never once had a problem. I'm talking separate entrance, full privacy. Only drawback is that most of these places only have a shower stall in the basement rather than a tub but for that price, who cares? I'm not sure how cam studios work as far as whether they take a percentage or charge you a flat fee to use their space, but an apartment up in Wakefield might very well be cheaper than working in a studio, especially if you decide to live there full time. I promise you, you will NOT find these low rents advertised in ads but PM me if you're interested and I can let you know how to go about finding one. The only down side is that you really do have to be there in person in order to apply for and get these types of apartments, it's not really something you can secure online or over the phone.

I'm sure this post sounds shady as hell but I'm being totally serious about this.

I'm thinking the girls that are looking to work in a physical studio don't have that kind of money to put down on an apartment.

Well, without knowing anyone's financial business, living in a cheap apartment in NYC by yourself can actually be a lot cheaper than living with a roommate. If the OP is going to be renting a 2 bedroom with a roommate, even in the outer boroughs, she'd probably end up paying close to a grand a month on rent, plus utilities. Whereas if she were to rent one of the one bedrooms I was talking about and live on her own she'd end up paying about half of that in rent. Plus, then she wouldn't have to work in a physical studio since she'd have the privacy required to cam, so she'd also save on paying out studio fees as well.

Now, if a person was going to NYC and was able to live rent free (say, in student housing on campus or with a relative) then it probably wouldn't make sense to rent a cheap apartment. But it can be a really good option depending on the circumstances.
