Default Security leak! Change your passwords!

As some of you know, last week there was a huge security leak involving Yahoo. Approximately 450,000 people have had their email addresses AND passwords posted online for all the world to see. This has affected people not only with yahoo email accounts, but hotmail, gmail, and others as well. You can read more about the incident here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-574...d-to-know-faq/
If you'd like to see if your information has been leaked you can type in your email address and check your status here: http://labs.sucuri.net/?yahooleak

This is why they say never use the same password for more than one account. One of my email addresses (hotmail) was leaked, and unfortunately I've had to spend hours trying to remember where I have accounts and change all of the passwords. It may not seem like a huge deal to just have your email hacked, but if people can also access your cam accounts (assuming you use the same password as your email address), you're leaving yourself open for people to go in and access your social security number, address, real name, BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION (if you use direct deposit, like I do)- you can see how much of a mess this could be.

I urge all of my fellow cam models to check and see if your email and password were posted, and Change Your Passwords if you need to! Even if you don't need to, it's a good idea to be proactive about this. I've had to learn the hard way why it's so important to use different passwords for everything; you certainly don't want someone to get a hold of that sensitive information and be able to access all of your information. Please be safe, ladies!

Also, a few thousand gmail and AOL accounts were hacked as well (according to what I saw on CNN ).

It is possible to delete a yahoo account: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/hot...otjobs-38.html
I honestly don't know if that link works or not, as I have not yet deleted my yahoo account, but that might be a good start. It was my hotmail information that was leaked during this hack, so I haven't bothered to do anything with my yahoo account other than to change my password.

I would recommend creating different passwords for every cam site you've worked on (whether currently active or not- if an old site still has your bank information on file you are still at risk), all personal and business emails, social media, ebay, paypal, payoneer, alertpay, amazon, any and every bill you pay online such as electricity, phone, wish lists, etc. Of course, if you use online banking you DEFINITELY want to change your login details with your bank.

Also, if you do find that your email password has been published, do not think that deleting that email account will solve your problems. Once it's out there, it's out there. The only way to protect yourself from potential fraud and identity theft is to change your login details everywhere. It is a minor annoyance and a bit of a hastle, but MUCH better than the alternative!

Well I checked all mine and all good.. maybe ya'll should invest in Trend Micro.. i find it's the least cumbersome firewall and antivirus than other's . it's of no bother when on computer... It's so fabulous I started paying for it.. rather than get the 30 day trial over and over again..lol

Having antivirus is a necessity, of course. However, that really has absolutely nothing at all to do with this security leak. In the news article it clearly states that the security breech happened due to Yahoo! Contributor Network (aka Associated Content) having poor security and storing all usernames and passwords in plain text. When their database got hacked members who belonged to the site were were exposed Regardless of their own individual firewalls, antivirus programs, malware detectors, etc. So even if you as an individual are taking precautions with your hardware- which you should be doing- if you belong to a site that get hacked you're still at risk of having your login details and password exposed. Implying that someone should invest in an antivirus program is not only a moot point but also kind of insulting. I have really good antivirus software and haven't had any problems with it in all of the years that I've had it, yet because I am a writer for Yahoo! Contributor Network my information was put out there for the world to see.
