I say don't do the 'down on your luck' thing with customers, only because it will make them feel like you need them. We deal with enough guys with entitlement issues already.
If I were you, I'd buy a thick blanket or throw rug for the floor and drape some fabric in swaths from the walls (stretched out fabric will look cheap but if the fabric is draped into folds it will look like a deliberate style thang).
Get a good lighting system and you're all set :-)
Why can't you cam from the bedroom?
These are not my style, but to cover up the walls you can get one of these things and hang it up. http://www.pandorasboxoc.com/tapestry1.html Or just getting a few yards of a nice fabric and draping it on the wall around your workspace.
Say you just moved into a house that you are flipping and you are working on it. It might be fun to talk about too!
Um, this is just me...but I would never move into a place like that if I had money. If he's serious about living with you, he will clean up the place and in the meantime you can get yourself a studio apartment/flat that has (hot) running water and other essentials.
But yeah, don't do the sympathy thing. I don't think it's that lucrative, kind of a boner-killer.

I had to cam from a shitty apartment last year. I just put some nice bedding on the bed, decorated one wall (thumbtacks and fabric), and draped a pretty canopy from the ceiling. There's a picture of it in this thread, which is also helpful for general decoration.

Honey, You are absolutely right.. i have played the sympathy card many times.. NADA nothing.. not always it works.. it used to work great.. but now in this recession doesn't work so good.,.,, i built a whole business out of sympathy without trying to.. because I thought it worked well.. well in these dying times it's every man for themselve.. they take a pass on you . .. TRUST ME!! i am trying to undo a desperate habit.. don't work anymore.
Peek over on the MGF boards. What a mess. "I'm pregnant and have a brain tumor and I can't afford meds. Plz help me pay for gas to get to ER." Sympathy does NOT work. There is one girl on twitter. She's on her 4th or 5th stroke and she's 22?
Maybe if you did it once, and then stopped. ? But repeating? The guys are aware of these things and uhhh so are the models? We remember shit. We aren't dummies. Just words of caution if you want to go and do that route.
Ah no I hear you hun-first reply I agreed. I didn't think this myself, it was just something a friend of mine said and I wanted some of your opinions. I'm a stripper, I'm not a camgirl at the moment so I am naive to it.I won't go down that route! xx
Lol call A&E's Hoarders on him. Just kidding, kind of. Maybe he has a weird mentality where he can't throw things out, or maybe he's just lazy. It's hard to say.
It's both, I think! He keeps broken items, and can't throw *anything* away. I am sympathetic to a certain extent because I hoard too. But I don't think I could live quite like he does!Lol I think he needs some help. He had crap lying around everywhere!

Last time I started from a room with plain white walls, and a matresse on the floor with basic bed sheets. We bought an aparment, and
1. didn't have much money left to furnish it
2. didn't have time to totally finish it, since I was unable to cam for MONTHS because of the renovating (we did it on our own to spare money) I was always tired, I had nowhere to cam etc. and I decided to move in as soon as it is in a state that we have a place to sleep and we can use the bathroom so I could start making money at last
If there is no dirt and such, they won't really care I believe. Ofc a nice background is a plus, a warm, inviting, stylish room is wonderful, but noone ever complained about my plain background. Then I slowly improved the bedroom/camming space and noone really commented or when they actually did, they just said the new bed was cool, or asked if it was a different bedroom than before.
I simply told them, I've just moved, and I'm collecting ideas, searching for the perfect colours and pieces of furniture so they will probably see small changes if I find something I like.
I'd never QQ about being poor etc. I always think of being recorded, and to me nothing is more embarassing then begging publicly and tell everyone how poor I am whether it's true or not.

I wouldn't worry about the state of the place...they should be more interested in seeing you! Also, you could make it work for you...wear some painting overalls so you fit into your setting and strip from those! I have a friend who's a farm worker and the guys really get off seeing her strip in from her boiler suit and wellies LOL.
Agree with others on the sympathy vote, if anything it's best to act like you have so much money you can afford renovate your place.
I sometimes cam from one end of the living room that has shelves and people sometimes ask if I'm in an office...I don't mind though as I'm often dressed in my secretary outfit and the whole thing works together.
Check out how sexy workmen's dungarees can be! http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005LGAXX...2&linkCode=asn
Seeing a woman get naked from wearing something everyday can be far more of a turn on than just seeing her there in a bra and knickers.
I just remembered...don't underestimate how much seeing tools turns a guy on! My ex used to get tool magazines and I called them his wank mags LOL. Tease them by suggestively stroking the handle of a hammer or spanner (wrench for our US friends) and they'll be putty in your hands...although of course they may want you to use it as a sex toy but that's purely your choice!

All you really have to worry about is the space in view of the cam. Well, for camming purposes, anyway.
So I was in a house that was a "fixer upper" before I moved to my current place. There was no proper flooring, no painted walls, it was a project house we got turned disaster. However, this is what I did....
Find a corner of a room, put a big rug down and make a comfy little area in the corner with pillows, etc. Or what I did was put a twin size mattress on the floor in the corner, cover it with inexpensive blankets and pillows. Put a rug on any part of the floor that is showing. Paint the walls that are only in view of the cam if you can't afford to paint the whole room or don't have the time/desire to paint it all.
If you just focus on fixing up what is in the cams view, it will be a lot less daunting to tackle.Good luck!
xoxo ~ Sarah
I've always cammed in really crap places. Not "crap" crap, just not good. Even one place with no running water. It sucked. At least you can flush toilets! I have lots of red curtains I bought on sale and I would hang them on my walls (only flat if I could get the wrinkles out). I just try and keep distractions to a minimum, if I can find a clean, maintained corner of the house, I'm good. Really, when you take a look around, is there not a place where you can just have no background distractions? Not like a hole in a wall, but just stuff lying around.

P.S. do you think guys would find it more exciting to have sex surrounded by tools in a place where it's not usual to have sex...or in a plush, girlie bedroom? I never cam in the bedroom, it's either the office-looking end of the living room or on the sofa.

^^^ Katy, I think the toolshed thing would definitely work, as long as looked DELIBERATE. If a girl looks like she is camming from a shithole, I think guys just assume she's trying to make $20 to afford next week's meth, and treat her accordingly.
I think about this alot..... and I've written to others about it. I think the camming 'environment' you create is very important, and absolutely plays into how viewers will perceive your 'value'.
Sarah and the other posters above are correct, though.... all you need is a small corner. Just what is in view of the cam. If you can make a small portion of one room up to look "classy", you're good to go.
Do you have ONE nice-looking chair/armchair? Can you set it up in front of that fireplace you said was nice? Maybe light some candles, put them on the mantle? If you have ONE 'expensive looking centerpiece' (I am assuming you can use the fireplace?), then that's a great starting point. Accessorize as needed with lamps, side tables, rugs, blah blah, and you're set. Yes... lighting is key as well.
Oh! I just thought of something. Normally I really cringe at girls camming on the floor (errrr.... you're not a dog), but..... if you can get a faux-sheepskin or bearskin rug, plop it in front of the fireplace, and do shows on THAT, that might create an interesting effect.
(Just one girl's stupid opinion... take it or leave it.) :-)
I am going to amalgamate all your opinions & see what I come up with!It won't be for a while yet, contracts have only just been exchanged on my place, but I was incredibly worried before I posted this thread and I feel a ****tonne better now. I am also going to get him to help me, he wants me to move in so I see it as his onus that I am comfy there and can do things I normally would do. I am going to work the powertool thing though. Actually maybe it could be a learning curve, I might end up knowing how to use them ! (Or sustaining some horrible injury).....![]()

other option: make vids of yourself doing some renovations, maybe in some lingerie, gettin' all dirty and greasy and dusty~
As a customer, I would be completely turned off by a girl in a dump if it looked desperate. I would think I need to spend less on you because you have lower expectations and standards.
If I saw you working on your place, I'd find that interesting and might want to have a conversation about it. You might be surprised how many guys will actually give you decorating advice.
But I agree with the ladies who say that you only need a very small space to cam. Going to Ikea, Walmart, yard sales, etc... you could theoretically prepare a space big enough for camming for about $50. Creative camera angles and lighting can make all the difference. You can make it look like a cozy dorm room, a sexy loft, whatever angle you want to work. Make it work for you.
BUT... make that BOY work for you. If he wants you bad enough, he'll want to make you feel at home there. You're totally right about that. Good luck, lady.

So many awesome suggestions!
You said your boyfriend has a lot of crap lying around, right? You might be able to get crafty with some of it. My mother is a hoarder, and sometimes I can actually convince her to make stuff from all that stuff

You took the words right out of my mouth.
The same goes for playing the sympathy card. I always think about what it would look like if someone I know IRL were to see me on cam. No way I would want anyone to think that I was so desperate for money that I had to resort to diddling myself on the internet to make a quick buck. I would much rather them think that I'm living high on the hog from camming and doing it because I want to and because it pays well.
It doesn't have to cost you a fortune to spruce up your cam area. If you're not too picky about the type of fabric or the color (obviously you want something flattering, I just mean you're not necessarily looking for THE perfect shade of pink, not too purple, not too red...), you can buy fabric by the yard for under $3/yd. Cover your walls and bed with coordinating fabric, maybe stitch together a couple throw pillows. If you got a really good deal on fabric and/or used one of those 50% off coupons every craft store has online, you could probably put something pretty rad together for ~$30.

can you at least make one corner of one room look really awesome? i never realized until i completely changed my backdrop a few times how much backdrop matters. it doesn't have to be fancy...i made my camming area look more like a nice bedroom with stuff i already had on hand. the tables i had were terrible so i covered them with nice scarves. now my camming area looks nicer than my real bedroom, lolyou can use a cheap rug to cover up whatever problems are on the floor, and a tapestry or some paint to cover up the area of the wall where you'll be camming.

Yes! and to elaborate.. it's human nature to respect others who have nice things.. whether you are broke or not. So in your best interest to make things nice.. Often, guys comment how nice my bedroom is. Not sure if it's sarcasm, jealousy or what!..lol
