Default What Was the Hardest Part for You as a Newbie?

This question is more directed towards the ladies who have been dancing awhile.....so sorry if I've posted it on the wrong board! Anyway...
I haven't started dancing yet, but I hope to in September or October. I know that everyone gets nervous about different aspects of the job. I have no problem approaching and talking to guys, and I think I can learn the dancing part just fine, but the part about getting close to a total stranger and getting naked in front of them just stresses me out! Irl, I dress very conservatively (I generally don't even wear mini skirts or tank tops), and I'm the type of person who doesn't even hug people or say, touch a guy's arm when I'm flirting with him. I'm sure I can do it, but it will take some getting used to!

So, what was the hardest part of the job for you, at first? Is it still the hardest part, or has something else taken that place now that you've gotten used to the job?

For me it's the initial approaching a guy and chatting him up. Cause when I look across the room, I see mostly a room full of creeps. So I fix my problem by going for guys who look timid, because it makes it easier for me to get into an upper-hand persona.

As a newbie the hardest thing for me was balancing school work with stripping.

Now ... ugh. Burn out city, the hardest part is getting out of bed.

The hardest part for me was deciding what I was gonna spend all that money on!

No, just kidding. I had approach anxiety. I would usually only talk to guys if they were obviously interested in me. A lot of times they'd have to come grab me from where I was sitting (alone, on the phone) and ask for dances.. I got over it, though.

    The late hours.

The drama in the dressing room.

I hated approaching men and realizing most of the men will turn me down. That's hard as a new dancer because attractive women get this attitude that all men want them and then to realize every man has their type.

I agree with Sunny. The DR drama I was not prepared for, and the night schedule was hard for me at first... I was very, very young when I started (2 weeks after I turned 18 ). Other than that, the hardest part for me was looking the part. I was a skinny, gangly, punk rock kid with short spiky hair. It took me a WHILE to learn the makeup, hair, outfits combos etc. I was pretty funny looking.

+1 approach anxiety! still have it on and off now. Sounds like you have no problem with that htough. Getting naked in front of someone may be easier than you think. I freaked out on my first day and almost didn't go in, but doing my first dance was fine, I was more worried about doing good 'moves' and appearing confident than actually being naked.

Now approaching people is just as hard but it's only because I get pre-irritated by all of their bs.
I worry about my looks. I KNOW other people think I'm good looking, and some guys think I'm amazing looking. But I don't see it, when I look at pics of me my friends take on fb on a night out or in and I'm pie eyed and look old/fat/gross I'm like WHAT THE FUCK DO PEOPLE SEE IN ME?!
I probably looked better 10 years ago, 5 years ago, though weirdly I worry less now than I did then. Guess self-acceptance comes with age. I think even if you're drop dead gorgeous, being surrounded by hot women all week/weekend can cause insecurities.
