Thumbs down Obesity rates for the US by state

I'm shocked that PA ranks 19th. I honestly thought it would be in the top percentile. Where does your state fall?

    25.1% w/ a BMI greater than 30 here.......and I'm surprised it's not a higher percentage of people.

I'm from Canada, so our number is apparently 14.3%- I'm actually surprised it's that low.

I'm Illinois and it looks like we are ranked high at 28%. Not surprised since I see a lot of extremely obese people.

Yeah, I figured Texas would be one of the top ones. 30%--ouch. I always thought it was kind of ironic that most of the people I see in the medical center are obese. Then again, Houston is so damn hot and spread out that people hardly walk anywhere. I was actually walking from one park to another (less than a half-mile apart) in one of the suburbs of Houston and every person who passed me in his/her car stared like 'wtf are you doing walking, bitch?' I just like to walk and didn't see the point in getting in my car when they actually have sidewalks, contrary to where I grew up. I'd really love to live somewhere that was walking-friendly.

This is really sad- I hate it when people use the heat as an excuse to not walk. It's been ~37 degrees celsius here this week, and I can't count how many people have been driving to the gym to walk on the treadmill. WTF, walking outside is free. We have a beautiful city with motherfucking parks and trails everywhere. Use them.

Not surprised that Florida is that high... I'd love to live somewhere with a more moderate climate and parks, etc to do more outside. I grew up like that and miss it a lot but it's just not really an option here. It's ridiculously hot year round and dangerous outside, too.

I'm not surprised by the stats, when I was out by the water on the 4th; I saw more tits on guys then girls. Americans are the worst & over consume everything.

Admittedly, the heat here is more overwhelming than other areas because of the humidity. Houston is actually the most air-conditioned city in... the country? world? I forget which. But even when it's pleasant out, people just don't walk anywhere. I've actually had two friends be detained on separate occasions for "suspicious behavior" because they were walking from their houses to the grocery...

I'm working in Denver right now and was having this discussion with a customer last night. He said the same thing looking around the room at the girls and the people he sees out and about ....yeah right. I see overweight people here and the dancers in florida and much skinnier and more fit. It didn't use to be this way but the last year or so I'm seeing bigger and bigger people here, granted I'm in Denver but usually big cities are were the people are more fit.

I was joking about how I have an extra 10 yrs in the bizz thanks to the next generation of dancers becuz when they start at 18-23 & are already out of shape there is just no way they are competing against me that refuses to let my body go like that.

I find it sad when todays teens don't have going for them the body's or looks women that workout & take care of themselves now keep pass 40, but that's what happens when you baby a generation into accepting less of themselves or rather teach them that 50-60 lbs of fat is the now new normal when there is no reason it should be.

When people read "The average American woman is a size 12" they think that "oh, size 12 is normal", when in actuality they don't realize that in this case, "average" means taking all the data and dividing it amongst the number of people counted to obtain an average. Therefore, all it means is there's more fatties in the sample sizes, not that you should aspire to be these sizes.

I totally agreee with this! It's like even in the clubs I work in manhattan,Denver, all over were known for the hottest girls it isn't like that anymore. It's like any young hideous chick whose like a 6 thinks ," hey I can dance... because I'm young. I've seen the most hideous group o chicks at this club I'm at now ever. Not even just out of shape or heavy I'm talking skinny, greasy hair , wearing wallmat outfits and here I am wearing a custom 200 gown. Yeah not being stuck up but their aren't too many dancers who can compete with me and the way I keep myself up and I'm 43 for christ sakes and I'm the one with top champagne sales nightly.

I had a guy tell me last nigh that on a whole Rfino in Vegas and Rachels in West palm has the total number of hottest strippers he's eve seen. I'm sure Miami they are hot and nicely dressed as there are some of the best custom gown places there. I have to agree with rachels EVERYGIRL fantastic and their gowns were nicer than my custom gowns. Hell my daughter fathers the gm at the doll house and he said they are cracking down on what girls were how many days they can wear an outfit. Mking sure their hair and nails are done and he said they put a scale in the office( don't know how they'll work that but yeah I was looking at girls last night with nasty nails, hair, some not fat just has love handles, guts wore ugly outfits and then at least 3 guys said I can't go with you.....these gils are cheap , your playboy hot and dressed like a million bucks.....you'e too expensive. This has never happened at tgis club. I remember when you had to tan, wear certain gowns that met criteria, wear 3 pieces of matching jewlery nad they cheked your hair and make up before going on the floor. I don't know what the hell is going in but I'm sick of taking care of myself so these chicks can walk in and onto the floor looking like they crawled out of bed. I won't even go in if my extensions and spray tan aren't perfect and I walk in in heels , true religion jeans sexy top all dolled up looking better than thee hicks do on the floor!
