    Default Hair Straightening w/o Heat?

Ok, so I read where you ladies say the wavy hair makes one look soccer mom'ish, ugh. My hair's med. thick, wavy, & frizzes in hot/humid weather..thing is, I don't want to use a flat iron, or a blow dryer. I just cut about 5 in. off, of damaged hair from a pycho bitch hair dresser who'd left bleach sitting on my hair..this was 4 yrs. ago, & I've been cutting inches off several times a year since, sometimes more. Plus I have growing out highlights, I don't want further damage from heat. It's also been dried out from the extreme heat we've had lately..
All the straighteners (J. Frieda, Fekkai, etc.) say to use a blow dryer. Isn't there anything I could use to straighten w/o it? I don't want to roller set either.

IMO, you're not going to get a super sleek straight without using some kind of heat. You could try straightening serums and combing your hair out while it's wet, but the thing is, combing wet hair is pretty damaging too. As are hairbands, hair sticks, clips, most bobby pins, etc. The best thing you can do, IMO, is use a deep conditioner every time you condition, not just on special occasions. I also use a leave-in conditioner. I bleached my hair from black to blonde and incurred a lot of damage, but I still use heat if I don't have a lot of time to air-dry and my hair is doing fine. I think the trick is just to not use heat most days. Have you considered going the opposite route and playing up your waves into curls with a mousse? I wear my hair wavy without heat most days and it's one of the things I get compliments on the most...

Wavy hair doesn't look soccer mom-ish. If you like your hair, then who gives a good goddamn.

Idk if this is possible with out using heat. When I had longer hair I usually just straightened my hair with heat once a week. I would use dry shampoo when it became greasy.

Do you have any recommendations? I used to use some kind of hair sunscreen spray I ordered online, but can't find it anymore

Sierra..Idk how it works, but I saw on Ebay, a sunscreen by the co. Hask. I know the brand, I've used their conditioning packs/hot oil treatments, which are sold @ Sallys, Walmart, & drugstores. Looked for Hask sunscreen, in stores, but didn't see it. I also used a clear henna spray, kinda of a natural brand sold @ Whole Foods/health stores etc. I think it had a sunscreen effect From what I understand, the hair sunscreens generally don't work super well. Currently, I wear one of those headbands, & tuck my hair into it..the top of my head is dark, so if the sun hits there fine w/me

Lol, I get to wear it to where I work.

Bring on the Men, thank SO MUCH for your very detailed info..I've been looking @ flat irons. I also want one that you can adjust the heat on it, definitely want the tourmiline, floating one too.

I've been using Nexxus, Threappe shampoo/Humectress conditioner, both are moisturizing, but this freakin' heat outside is unreal, & my hair's been Brillo-pad-ish. Am going to get/keep deep conditioning all the time, after every wash, like I used to. I HAVE to use shampoo, my scalp would get disgusting otherwise.
I have good brushes, they have mixture of boar/nylon bristles in a rubber base.

ETA: Henna Gold, Salon Naturals spray on conditoner in white bottle, Mason-Pearson brush

    Thanks so much, ladies!
