Crossfingers Starting to go Indy...Made my site/blog!

I'm transitioning over to indy. I couldn't sleep at all last night, so I spent the majority of my night reading all of the Indy threads on here and making my site and blog! Neither are completely finished (I still have to add a small picture gallery and some other stuff here and there...AND figure out what payment platform I'll use since Payoneer is unavailable ). Anywho, check it out and let me know what you think!

    Website: http://booking809dream.wix.com/dream

Blog: http://809dream.weebly.com (click on the page that says 'blog', the home page is still under construction lol).

I love how you have set it up. It's very clean, easy to navigate, tells the potential custie exactly what they can expect, and it looks nice However, I'd get your own domain and hosting asap. Don't rely on free template based sites. I'm not even sure you CAN integrate a payment platform on wix? And how safe is the members area section?

I can highly recommend dreamhost as a host and domain provider. They offer private registration too (meaning your personal details don't show up in whois searches -VERY important for camgirls/ adult workers!) x

Thank you @sexysusie! I don't plan on relying on the free domain for too long. Only while I'm getting started out, so 3 weeks is the longest I plan on doing that.

I am trying to read up on hosting because it seems very complicated to me.

I chose Wix because the site was easy to build and it had really great tools to build the site with. Unlike the site where I have my blog, I was able to actually 'build' it. But instead of using complicated HTML they had a lot of great tools. So it was moderately easy, which was great!

From what I have read, Wix ''hosts'' my site and I think they sell domains, too. Wix allows for 'commerce' too. Dreamhost looks extremely good because of the private registration. The only thing that is hard for me is WordPress. I've had a WordPress blog, but Idk, there's just something about it that I can't GET! lol.

Is there any way dreamhost could 'host' my wix site? Grr I'm confused.

Thank you @Fridays ! I didn't think of the old guys with bad eyesight, so thanks for giving me that thought! Which moving image, the one on the opening page? I do plan on doing 'specials' that I'll promote on my blog, and I'll also have some perks for Members (and regulars). I always seem a little more firm when mentioning rates at first so that it helps weed out at least *some* of the bs-ers.

I even felt bitchy about being like ''You can (briefly) tell me what you're looking for", but you get those guys that want to talk for 20 minutes in detail about their fantasy...and you don't want to seem rude, but time is money!

A quick google on wix and private registration shows they do offer it, but a lot of epople have had problems with their info showing up anyway so I'd be wary.

I'm not sure if you can move your site over to dreamhost, I assume if you own the site/ paid for premium wix then you could, but you'd need to check that with them.

Dreamhost is really simple, just sign up for their hosting plan (and domain too if you wish though some people prefer to register a domain with a separate company from the host in case any issues arise in future). They're actually offering free domain name at the moment as part of any hosting package http://dreamhost.com/web-hosting/

I use wordpress myself and have found it easy enough to set up a simple site. The beauty of wordpress is that it allows you complete control of the backend, and you can customise it to your heart's content, there are hundreds, thousands even of widgets and extra bits you can add on to it, including e-commerce

Your site looks nice I just wanted to share though- that wix is very iffy. My girlfriend had her site hosted there (not free, either.. she paid) and they shut her down for violating their TOS :
    A. The Wix Website may now or in the future permit the submission of Content submitted by you and other users ("User Submissions") and the hosting, sharing, and/or publishing of such User Submissions. You understand that whether or not such User Submissions are published, Wix.com does not guarantee any protection with respect to any submissions.
    B. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT ALL USER SUBMISSIONS ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE USER UPLOADING SUCH CONTENT. YOU, AND NOT WIX, ARE ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CONTENT THAT YOU UPLOAD, POST, TRANSMIT OR OTHERWISE MAKE AVAILABLE VIA THE SERVICE. WIX DOES NOT CONTROL THE CONTENT POSTED VIA THE SERVICE AND, AS SUCH, DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY, INTEGRITY OR QUALITY OF SUCH CONTENT OR THAT ITS UPLOADING DOES NOT INFRINGE ANY THIRD PARTY RIGHTS.
    C. WHILE WIX IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR AND DOES NOT REVIEW THE USER SUBMISSIONS, WIX RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DELETE ANY SUCH USER SUBMISSIONS THAT WIX DEEMS, IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, RACIST, HURTING, ABUSING, ILLEGAL, OR UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY REASON AND WITH NO NEED TO PROVIDE EXPLANATIONS.

and it further says (paragraph 14 section E of their tos): (III) SUBMIT MATERIAL THAT IS UNLAWFUL, OBSCENE, DEFAMATORY, LIBELOUS, THREATENING, PORNOGRAPHIC, HARASSING, HATEFUL, RACIALLY OR ETHNICALLY OFFENSIVE, OR ENCOURAGES CONDUCT THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A CRIMINAL OFFENSE, GIVE RISE TO CIVIL LIABILITY, VIOLATE ANY LAW, ENCOURAGES USE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL, OR IS OTHERWISE INAPPROPRIATE;... blah blah blah.

It says they don't review the websites that are made- but I beg to differ. Either that or some butt-hurt customer found out it was hosted on wix and reported it. Either way.. it was money and time lost.

Also.. all WIX sites are based with Flash. This makes it difficult for SEO (almost impossible).. and it takes forever to load on older computers. Whenever you look for free hosting or a 'drag and drop' type of site.. their TOS is most likely going to say no adult/pornography. And like someone above said.. you will not be able to integrate a payment system to a site that you have no control over the back end. You will have to use HTML buttons to link to your payment types.

    {{{{{{{EDITED OUT ALL MY SECRETS}}}}}}}}

BUT- if you would like to mess around and try to figure out wordpress or another platform.. there is freehosting.com that allows adult content on their servers.. and not only is it free.. but they provide way more storage and bandwidth than (other site) does with their paid plans. You can pay I think $3 at 1and1 for a domain.. with free private whois. A lot of people say 1and1 is a pain in the ass.. but I've never had a problem using it for just domain space.

BTW- I'll be deleting all of this tomorrow.

In any regard.. good luck! Indie is the SHIT.

I think your site looks fantastic!! I can't wait to see what it looks like when you are finished with it I looked into wix as well and I'm looking at other sites for hosting...I'm just nervous about the whole thing lol but you definitely inspired me to keep looking and to maybe start building one now on one of the free sites and then transfer to paid.

Thank you BlankStare! I really appreciate that. I have a Mac and I noticed that the site is super slow when loading on mine..so I can only imagine others'.

I've *had* a Wordpress blog before, I just didn't feel like I knew what I was doing . I have been fortunate with SEO so far because I already have a lot of results in google because I did glamour modeling and was featured in a couple of mags. So if you google ''dominican dream model'' the site comes up at the bottom of the first page. HOWEVER, I am still going to end up going with a more adult-friendly place to host a site, especially now that I've read your post.

It's convenient right now because it's free and I already had the site because of modeling. I just switched it up to make it more..adult lol.

Its nice for a test-site (until you get your own domain). You can add Paypal buttons with Wix and set them up as donations or tributes. I recommend adding a BACK or HOME button on your members only area. Without a password, there is no navigation from that page.

But you wouldn't want to do that with paypal.... seeing as how they don't allow adult transactions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dominican, where/ how did you get your gorgeous graphic for your first page? I'd love something like that for my site x

May I ask why "Payoneer is unavailable"? Also I like the pictures you've added so far, But I must say im not sure how seo friendly wix is? I just did a few keyword searches and none of them had wix in the return. Lots of wordpress and blogger. A few weebly. I just wanted to point that out before you invest too much time on something that may not bring you any returns. I suggest setting up several blogs on different platforms offering different content and working different angles. Then you can link them all and that helps with backlinks. And paypal is not an option even if you use the donation/tribute buttons. Putting a paypal script on your site is the fastest way to get shut down. Im surprised at how many people still suggest this option.

I've always heard good things about Dreamhost for hosting adult sites. You have to be careful whichever host you chose is okay with hosting adult content. You don't want your site to just disappear one day, major headache to move servers.

There is also Arvixe - I use them and have always gotten excellent service and fast tech support from them. They are also very affordable, cheaper than most hosts with better service than I've gotten elsewhere. (My affiliate link is here http://www.arvixe.com/4220.html if anyone is interested in checking them out).

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm really interested to learn how you can actually manage to keep up with something like this? Just maintaining my (extremely basic) wordpress site is a major headache!
