    Default PO Box Preference?

Hi ladies, did a good search for this one and came up with nothing, so I'm turning to the experts.

The most experience I have with PO Boxes is going to the post office with my mom and being bored shitless for a little while. Now I'm a cam girl and I see the urgency to get with the program... and I have no idea where to begin. I've read that it shouldn't be my local post office (in another city preferably?) so I'm curious if there are mail forwarding programs that would allow me to get my mail without driving super far every time?

Also, well, I'll obviously need to receive mail as my cam alias. Do post offices allow this? How about my real name and alias at the same time? How do you deal with that issue?

Are there more than one brand of post offices or is it always just the government-designated resource for that town? Is it safe/recommended to sign up with that "online post office" I saw mention to in my google searchings? Seems a bit shady to me.

As always, thanks for the help!!

    *Ps: I live in California.

I'm not sure where you live, so this might not apply to everyone, but in Canada (at least where I am) there's usually just the Canada Post P.O. boxes. To answer your question about aliases, I've had mail delivered to my cam name before.

I've been somewhat quiet around this forum but I have an answer to this question! I use a mail forwarding service in Las Vegas. If I sell something, I box it up and send it to the forwarding service with my stage name and the address of the forwarding service and they send it on. Same goes in the event I receive mail or a wishlist item - they send it to the address of the service and they send it to my home. When you get a box, it's an actual address and they let you use an alias. I don't know if I can post the website here, so, if anybody wants it, pm me!

I know its not safe to use the Real Post Office. Guys can though a lot of work get your real name (which is needed at signup) But to fix that I guess you could have a boyfriend or hubby get the box in his name especially if its a generic name.

I've looked into other mail type services, sometimes you can get a suite, instead of a PO box number. Making the address look more 'personal' but i'm always concerned about forwarding fees, specially if I started forwarding my send-outs via the service.

Edited my first post to show that I live in California.

I'm worried about forwarding fees too. No idea how much that would cost, in addition to a box being anywhere from $15 - $50 a month (which may not be a problem if I do well camming, but given I've been working less than a month, I don't want to bet on anything and definitely can't afford another bill if I bomb).

I'm in the same boat. I need to get a box set up somewhere, but I haven't been doing this long enough to invest a huge amount of money or a long time commitment. I will probably just get a po box in the next state since i live near a border, i mention my region on cam so its no secret what metro area i live in...but it's sizable. Then i guess i would have to drive over there every couple of days and pick it up. I just wonder how much you really need to conceal. Like if the PO box was in my husband's name in another state, would i really need to worry about forwarding and stalkers?

    hrmmmm.....

Just curious why you feel the need for a PO Box when you are a new camgirl. The only mail I choose to get is my check from SM and that comes to my house under my real name. If you're looking to receive gifts, I'd wait to build a following first then start out with Giftcards that can be emailed to you and so on.

The Post Office doesn't allow Fed Ex shipments, so a box at the UPS store might be more up your alley depending on what you are looking to use it for.

I agree as a new girl (depending on what site your working) you probably dont need a PObox, especially for things like your work checks lol. But doing clips, I get guys all the time trying to send me/order me costumes. Yes most of the times I can find what they want on a site that allows e-giftcards but just having a place they can send things would open up a lot of doors.

Well having the option for people to purchase things off my wishlist is never a bad thing, plus I feel nervous about putting my home address on the sites even for getting paid (hackers can get all sorts of information if they want it). So far my home address is registered for MFC and LJ (though I haven't worked LJ yet, heard some horrible things).. and now I'm registering for xpeeps and just wish I had a po box already.

I use maillinkplus.com . You can use your alias there, you have the item shipped there, they repackage the item and put your real name/address on the new packaging and send it to you. I've used them for a year now and haven't had any problems with them at all, they have really great customer service too.
