    Default Upgrading to A Camcorder

I'm filming a lot of content, and I want to make the switch from webcam to camcorder, to improve video and sound quality, and multiply my shooting locations. I'm not looking to spend any more than $600. I've been looking at a few camcorders already, but I was wondering if anyone has a camcorder they love (for making content or otherwise), or perhaps has great features for a good price. I know I'm not going to get the best quality with my budget, but it'll be a world of difference from my webcam, and I'm starting to get very picky about my video, which, I guess, is sort of a good thing.

    The ones I'm considering:

    Sony HDRXR260V
    Canon Vixia
    Sony DCRDVD650

Does anyone have any of these? I'll take any recommendations, as well

i have a panasonic hdc sd700. love it. your budget will buy you something pretty good. i got the sd700 as its probably top of the consumer end of things without straying into pro cameras which cost £1000 plus. it has great quality, including low light, has ability to take an external mic and also an accessory shoe which you can attach a microphone or light too. also has a remote control.

imho, avoid the dvd ones. flash / sd cards are the way to go.

I've been wondering about video cameras, too. I'll be watching this thread for info! I guess I'm not sure on the pros and cons of using a vid cam instead of my Logitech c920.

a lot of modern flash / sd based hd camcorders are a nightmare to use as a webcam. you're better off buying high end dedicated webcam from logitech

    Bumping this old thread

Having issues editing some of my clips with Logitech c920 and filming with my DSLR is a pain in the ass since it doesnt have autofocus so is kind of counterproductive ugh
I'm looking for a camcorder for clip purposes too!

If you have feedbacks / suggestions, if you already own one you like etc please do tell

    I'm looking for:
    full HD
    lcd display
    not less than 30fps
and "ideal for people as subjects" lol
    tripod friendly

    (sorry just woke up)

The specs I have are way too much for my budget but if I find the perfect one, I'll be willing to go up to 600. We need at least something with true 1080phd over 14MP quality and a mic hookup, I had many more but I realized those two were most important. Mic on my dslr suxxx! And our Logitech c930e has sound issues when recording... Space_cowgirl we are with you, going to need so much new equipment.

I ended up getting a Canon Vixia HF R30 and am very happy with it. It has options for external mic, tripod, touch screen, very good video quality and sound for the price I got it for on Amazon. The only complaint I have with it is that the battery doesn't hold very much of a charge (about 30-40 minutes)-- but I don't film outside often, so it's not a big issue.
