Realistically, how easy/hard is it to hack into someone's email/text messages? This girl I know is trying to tell me she is sure this guy is hacking into her shit and I think she may be a little paranoid.
Advice?

What kind of phone does she have?

I'm sure she uses great passwords, if not, make her do it, cause otherwise it's very easy even for a semi-retarded person just to get into the mailbox. Simply with some trial and error if he knows her just a little bit.
Like I'm semi-retarded, but I used to "hack" myself into my (since then ex)boyfriend's mailbox. He always referred to himself as being GENIUS. I tried genius as a pw and DING DING DING.
Probaly he thought he had this really great pw lol. Ah what an asshole, so many things turned out when I decided to try if genius was the pw or not.
Sorry if it's not much help![]()
Yes, password guessing is very easy. Also, if she gave any hints or clues that were too obvious for her password protection question then "BINGO!" Remember everyone, never give out your pets name, or school, or any other clues that you would use as a password to anyone.
Your post is waaay to vague to give any kind of answer. There are way too many variables. The best thing to do if you think someone is/has been hacking you is to change all your passwords to something oddly secure. And not just the passwords but the confirm your identity questions as well- because anyone that knows you would know the answers to those as well - Use something unique you wont forget and dont tell anyone what the answer is. what was the name of your childhood pet? pink dildo2 Best childhood friend? pink dildo2

i think she has an iphone.
thank you, girls!!! <3 mwah!
ps glasses- your ex sounds like he had some sociopathic tendencies is he was referring to himself as a genius all the time. glad you got out of that relationship!

Yes, I agree many people have very weak passwords, but there are other ways this could be happening as well. My SO just fell asleep otherwise I'd ask him the specifics, but he is a total nerd and understands more about computers and technology than anyone I know. He can retrieve data from cell phones that has been "deleted" and would do so for a previous coworker whose abusive ex husband would call her, leave threatening messages, then break into their home and delete them so she wouldn't have evidence. There are also many apps you can put on Smartphones, like SpyBubble, that allow you to monitor that phone's activity without alerting the user. Smartphones are vulnerable in the same ways that your average computer is, so if this guy is a semi-intelligent creeper, he could get access to her stuff easily enough without ever needing to have her phone in his hand.

Re: Passwords, my passwords are all random gibberish combinations of numbers and letters. LOL.
Some people go overboard. I've seen people that have to sit and re-type a 30-character long alphanumeric password because they keep mistyping one character.

I can't stand hackers! I always joke that the elementary schools are teaching kids difficult things so early, that by the time they get to high school, they'll know how to hack into computers and everything...lol.
One of my favorite MFC regulars had his Twitter account and e-mail account hacked into. I knew something wasn't right when I kept getting 'work from home' spam messages from his account.

Pretty simple if you know how to hack on to someone's modem.
