Hey guys , Ive been doing allot of reaseach on this girl. Jack Ketchems girl next door sparked my interest in her, But i just finished the book, and thought i would share.
If your wanting a good read, and maybe something new to add to your heart, Read this book, and watch the movie An American Crime.
Heres my summary.
Sylvia Likens was a american teen in the 60's , Her and her sister was sent to live with a stranger, a friends mom, So her parents could travel in exchange for money, because the woman (Girty) was struggling with her own 6 kids, and newborn baby. Upon a late check, and accidentally revealing the eldest daughter (Paula) was pregnant, while trying to save her from a rape,(Paula was upset because she liked the married guy she was trying to defend her against) they began beating and torturing sylvia, She was kept in a basement , raped with coke bottles, and starved, They scalded her, put cigarettes out on her, And soaked the wounds in salt, The youngest boy would invite kids on the block over to beat this girl as she lay in the basement weak from starvation and shock. Upon hearing that the mother planned on dumping the body, she tried to escape, only to be caught , thrown down the stairs, and beat in the head viciously untill she lay unconscious. Upon waking up, Gerty, the woman housing this girl have a needle, and carved im a prostitute and proud of it into her chest, Unable to finish it , she ask a boy, a guy who she trusted and had a crush on for help. She made her right a letter to her parents stating that she had run away with a group of boys , exchanged sex for money, and they did this to her. All the family members committed these crimes, even her own sister did nothing out of fear. She died of shock, and malnutrition in a dirty basement, She was only fed her own feces and urine untill she died. This is a true story, So shut the hell up about how bad your lives are. The assholes only served 2 years.
