I am a total stripper cliche: once I started to get serious about making money, I bleached my hair. At first it looked beautiful and I loved it -- it was white and more Abbey Lee Kershaw than Real Housewives, ya feel me? But a year into bleaching with consistent touchups every 6-8 weeks it is getting more and more damaged and thin. And despite toning/purple shampoo, the newest layer is just a shade orange-er. I don't wanna continue down this road, plus I think that the bleached out look is a little bit much for trying to blend into the regular world.
Before bleaching I had highlights on top of my natural (dirty blonde). I thought I looked good at the time, but when I look back at photos of myself from then I kinda cringe. It just looks so...goody-goody/never-changed-my-hair-since-8th-grade.
I'm thinking my solution could be doing the oh-so-trendy gradient thing and dying the roots dark, then fading out to the bleached ends. But then I'm all NO! Ombré is the mullet of the 2010s! Business on the top, party on the bottom (ironically the perfect recipe for undercover-stripper hair).
So whaddaya think? Is this trend dead? Will my children look back at pictures and laugh like I did when I saw my mom's crimped hair in the 80s? And most importantly -- what did you transition to after giving up bleach?
Oddly (because it's been so popular) I've never seen a stripper rock this style.
