Default Does this seem legit?? Advice appreciated

This isn't technically about camming, but I got the message after advertising myself as a camgirl, so I hope it's OK to post here.

I'm just going through the process of registering for camsites, & hope to start camming really soon. I've been verified on AW but had decided to wait to start on Streamate, so I haven't cammed at all yet, as Streamate are taking a while to process my docs.

I got this message on AW a couple of days ago:

Do you pose nude for photoshoots? I would be able to pay you £400 cash if you did a shoot with me, and the photos would be posted to the United States for publication with a specialist "natural" company over there.

I am a UK based glamour photographer and I specialize in working with "natural" models i.e. models that have natural breasts and who are un-shaved / hairy in the knicker region, which is why I was drawn to your profile.

Please take a look at my website below for further information and samples of my work, and please let me know if you are interested in doing a shoot with me.

    http://www.pbase.com/uknaturalmodels/samples

    Many thanks,

    [NAME]

I replied saying I'd be interested, and he gave me more details - I'd meet him at a studio, and the shoot would last about 8 hrs. He went from saying he "would be able" to pay £400 for photos, to offering £300 for photos and an extra £100 for a masturbation video shot and directed by him.

The change in the amount offered worried me a bit. I *really* need the money and I'm not against the idea of the video or the photos in theory, but I haven't even started camming yet and I was feeling nervous enough about that!

I would appreciate any input at all - I don't know how photographers usually arrange stuff like this or if there's anything about the whole thing that would ring alarm bells for more experienced models.

    What do you guys think?

The full follow-up email he sent me, if that helps:

    Hi there,

As well as the information on my website: http: this email provides a step-by-step guide of how my photo-shoots work.

Step 1. The "Natural" Market. Although I am a photographer for several companies, there is one US company in particular that buys most of my work and publishes it over there in the States. They prefer the models to be completely natural - i.e. natural breasts and un-shaved / hairy pubic areas, including a natural / un-shaved bikini line. In short, they prefer their models to be completely natural down below as if they have never before shaved or trimmed in their lives, including the bikini line, and it can take a shaved model as long as 3 months sometimes to fully grow back. So if a model is currently shaved or trimmed, then we need to wait until she has fully grown back before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2. Submission Photos. If a natural model is interested in working with me, I need her to email me a couple of photos that I then present to the manager of the natural company. One of the photos needs to be a nude photo that shows how hairy the model is down below. The company will then tell me if they want a custom shoot of the model. Assuming they come back with a "yes" then the model and I arrange a shoot. PLEASE NOTE If I have made first contact with model after seeing her photos, but the model is shaved, the approval will be a formality and I will personally guarantee the shoot if / when the model fully grows back and is as hairy as say Sophie on my website.

Step 3. Shoot Location. I have my own portable flash brolly lighting, and I usually do the shoot at one of many high-class apartment venues that I use around the country. I have venues in London, Cambridge, Bristol, Plymouth, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh, and I usually do the shoot at the venue which is closest to where the model lives to save the model any travelling inconvenience. However, if the model is willing and able to work from her own home, this is a very good alternative. To preserve the natural theme, the company prefers a natural house or apartment setting to the rather made-up look of a studio, and many of the models on my website were photographed in their own home.

Step 4. ID's. At the start of the shoot, I need the model to have brought with her 2 forms of identification, such as a passport, driving licence, birth certificate, etc. This is to verify that the model is over 18, and permits the photos to be legally published after the shoot. One of the ID's MUST be a government-issued photo ID, either a passport or a photo driving licence. A passport is preferable and can be used at all times. A photo driving licence can be used BUT ONLY if the photo on the licence is a VERY GOOD LIKENESS to how the model looks today. If the model doesn't have a passport or a photo driving licence, then we need to wait until she has obtained either a passport or a photo driving licence before we can do the shoot.

Step 5. The Shoot. The shoot itself is a standard solo female men's magazine style shoot (top shelf) for the US market. This involves the model starting off fully clothed in a number of different outfits, and under my direction she strips to the nude poses at the end of each set. Many of the nude poses are open legged, including the model holding herself open with her fingers, and the poses are in a variety of different positions (on back, on all-fours etc).

Step 6. Model Release Form. At the end of the shoot, I need the model to fill in and sign a model release form, which basically means that she gives her full legal permission for the photos to be published.

Step 7. Shoot Duration. I am usually required to do 10 sets of stills, and each set normally lasts about 30 minutes. So the total time in front of the camera is about 5 hours. However, it usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the model to get changed between sets, and for me to set up a new set and move the lighting etc, and so the total time for the day is usually about 8 hours. If the model chooses to do the extra hour of video work as well (see below) then the total time for the day is usually around 9 hours.

Step 8. Video - an optional extra. If the model wishes to earn extra money on the day, there is usually the opportunity to do an extra hour of video work. Part of the video work is very similar to the stills work - 2 or 3 scenes with the model starting fully clothed, and then working through a strip to the nude poses, which include open leg poses and holding open with fingers. However, models are also expected to do some "playing" with fingers (or a toy if she prefers) as if she was home alone having fun, and in this sense, the video is a bit stronger than the stills. Full direction is given by me, so the model doesn't have to worry about what to say or do - she just has to follow me. But the video is totally optional - if the model doesn't want to do the video, she doesn't have to - it's there as an optional extra for her to earn some extra cash on the day if she wants to.

Step 9. Model Payment. If the model just does the 10 sets of stills, then the pay for the model is £300 cash (three hundred pounds sterling) which is paid in cash at the end of the shoot. If the model does the extra video as well, this pays an extra £100 cash (one hundred pounds sterling), and so the total pay for the model is then £400 cash (four hundred pounds sterling).

Step 10. After the shoot I then post the photos off to the States where they get published.

I think that's about everything! Please let me know if you are still interested in working with me, and of course, please ask me any questions that you may have.

I haven't looked at his site or anything, so take that into consideration. He sounds professional and thorough. You should probably rely on the advice of the girls who have done nude photo shoots because I don't know what's standard in the industry. However, I don't think I'd feel comfortable sending FREE nude photos to anyone, because that's essentially what you'll be doing as the first step in the process. He could then say "well, you're not exactly what I'm looking for." In that case, he keeps your nude photos and you get nothing.

But like I said, I haven't dealt with this before, so maybe it's normal to do that? IDK.

^ Exactly what Jess said. I've never done professional photo shoots but him asking for a nude sample would be the only thing that would raise a red flag for me. Due to the nature of the site and him mentioning how it can take up to 3 months for the model to be "hairy enough" after shaving, it kind of makes sense that he'd want to make sure you'd fit the criteria. Then again... Free pussy pics... Would it be possible to send him some bikini shots where your bush is visible but it's still pg-13? Or am I just being skeptical and asking for nude pics is normal in this line of work?

Also, how do you KNOW that this guy is affiliated with the site? The site looks legit, but I could claim to be the owner of any site and it doesn't mean I am. Is this guy emailing you from something like @pbase.com, or is it some google or hotmail email? That could be a red flag as well; if he's using a pbase email account I'd probably take him seriously.

Once you've starting camming you'll recieve at least 10 of those 'photo shoot' emails a week or more. These guys spam email 100 models at a time, he didn't saw you and liked you, he messaged everyone in hope someone replied. My inboxes are full of them. Don't be thinking his mail is a rare offer, he sounds like a douche. I personally ignore them all. If i wanted a photoshoot id go to a professional company. I would GO TO FIND THEM. I would NEVER accept offer from douche who FOUND ME.

Thanks Annie, that's good to know! I did google him and couldn't find anything negative - there were even posts, seemingly from models, recommending him - seems like a lot of effort to go to for a couple of photos of my bush but hey ho

Professional photographers do not usually approach girls.. they have more than enough willing girls ready to work for them for free already. If they do approach you it will be on somewhere like modelmayhem or other modelling type site, and they're VERY unlikely to be offering paid shoots.

I'd say this has SCAM written all over it!

I tend to ignore these e-mails. When i was new I used to get TONS every week. Most of the guys sounded like total creeps and made me feel really uncomfortable. The only person I've ever said yes to was a guy who was a photography major at a local university. He paid me $50 and the pictures were non-sexual nudes. The whole thing was done on campus, so i felt safe-

if you do decide to meet this guy, bring a giant male friend with you and have him hang out in the corner while the shoot takes place. Also, bring some kind of contract with you that simply states you'll stand their naked for X amount of time and at the end of the day you'll get X amount of money. Have him sign and date it before the shoot starts, and have your giant male friend hold onto it.

    Safety first!

I would check through model mayhem and do some googling on the company and on him personally. If the company seems legit, I would CALL THEM directly, and ask about their usual procedures and this person specifically. I would also check out the girls who you have seen leaving good comments - sometimes they are fake profiles created to make someone seem legitimate.

I would follow my usual protocol for a shoot with a new photographer, which is as follows:
    - Ask to meet ahead of time to chat a little. Just a coffee or something - as a general rule, unless I am recommended to someone through other friends, I will not shoot with someone who I have not met. This goes for clothed and adult modelling. If a photographer cannot find five minutes to meet with me and make sure that we have a comfortable "fit", I don't want to work with them. Most people I have worked with are more than happy with this, because they don't want to waste a day on someone who is uncomfortable and giving them terrible shots because of it.
    - Get the location details ahead of time, and give them to your partner/friend. It may be work, but you are still meeting someone you "met" online - take the same precautions.
    - Find out who else will be shooting with you. No true professional would work without at least a photographers assistant, so if he says it will just be the two of you, turn it down. NO ONE works totally alone.
    - Get a contract signed before the shoot. It should state your compensation, expectations, requirements, etc. It should also cover the shoot duration, and the rights to the final products - will he be able to use them repeatedly, will he be able to use them for any company, or just for the one that he is quoting you? Will YOU be able to use the photos? I will never give a full release to ANYONE - my releases always state the one (or maybe two, including portfolio) use for the photos, and I would never risk giving someone the ability to do whatever they want with them for all eternity.

I DO deal with people that find me, but most of the work I do is actually clothed, and in a very close-knit industry, so I can usually find out about people very quickly.

The one thing that I would say about the e-mails you have posted here, is that some of his language puts me off a little. "knicker region" just sounds ridiculously coy and cutesy for someone who is a professional. Also, a few of the phrases just seem a little "off" - not what I am used to hearing. However, I am in North America, so that may be why. I would also be seriously put off by someone suggesting a shoot in my own house, or asking for "preview" pictures. The whole "to see how hairy you are" thing strikes me as a crock - you request a certain amount of hair, and expect the model to have it. If I am asked to do a shoot with corsets and collars, I am not requested to send preview photos of those to make sure that they are ok.
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.
