    Question in over my head?

so a friend of a friend djs at one of the top clubs in my city. he apparently showed my pic to management and they said as long as i hide my nose ring and my scars that i'd be good. he basically said i could hitch with him to the clubs he works at which would be like 5 shifts a week. my problem is, i don't know if i'm ready. i had a bad experience not even in the club with this person pushing me way past my boundaries and i really struggled saying no. i was also drunk, but still, it makes me a little nervous. on top of the fact that i haven't actually DONE it yet and i'd be starting out at a very high up club... i don't know what to do! any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't understand why girls let guys grope all over them against their wishes. It's horribly sad to me.

Ok. Know that your job/money should not rely on making you feel as if you're being assaulted. If dancing within the norm at your club makes you feel violated, then it's not the place for you. It's your RIGHT and responsibility to say NO when you feel uncomfortable. FUCK THE MONEY OR WHATEVER BULLSHIT THE CUSTOMER SAYS.

If you don't trust yourself to be able to do this while drinking, then don't drink.

Customers groping you against your will is sexual assault. When you put on stripper heels it doesn't make you less of a human, or and less deserving of respect. Respect yourself, and make others respect you.

If you struggle to assert your boundaries and stand up for yourself in your personal life, then I'm worried about how much more you'd struggle if there was money (ie. your livelihood) involved. Customers will try and cross your boundaries and make you do things you're uncomfortable with. Some will ask, others will simply go for it. You really have to be able to tell them no and stop situations like this. I understand that you were drunk in the incident you described, but alcohol is often a very common influence in the club. It's wise not to drink and dance, but it can be hard to resist the pressure from customers.

Really think if you'll be able to handle both of these very real and strong aspects of dancing. No one on here can answer if you're ready to face them.

thank you!!!! you're 100% right and hearing it from someone who is experienced is very helpful for me. i told my friend that at first, i just want to go check out the club, see what the vibe is like there, if i could picture myself working there, etc. he seems fine with it. i tend to be very impulsive so taking some time to think, watch, and learn is probably the best thing i could do for myself.

I think you could go one time to work and see what it was like. Observation can be misleading imo.
