Default IP Question for the Computer Gals

I need to change my IP address. If I purchase a prepaid broadband card, will my IP address be different?

Thank you for your patience and help. You computer girls always are so nice and helpful when I ask my DUMB questions.

It should be, I would assume. But it will probably be slow internet. If you unplug your router for a few hours it should give you a new IP I think.

If this involves changing internet service provider, then your IP address will definitely change. If you are switching to a different service class from the same provider, it depends how that provider configures things as to whether your IP will change or not. However, it would take 'extra effort' on the part of that provider to keep you at the same IP address.

Call them up and make sure you get a dynamic IP, after that, a simple reset should clear it
