Default I hurt too much from work... I've tried everything :-/

I've been dancing at my club for the last six months for about 3 days a week and I feel like my body is still getting used to it. I feel like sometimes I don't hustle as hard or go for more dances just because my body is so sore. I'd like to go to the gym as well just because I know I'm not really getting any cardio or upper body work (I don't do pole work). Unfortunately on my days off I'm usually exhausted, and when I try to go before the days I work, I usually die about half-way through my shift. I've tried doing a lot of yoga- like stretches... haven't taken a class in forever, but I've done enough where I can do some good stretching and breathing on my own. I eat extremely healthy... lots of veggies, protein, whole grains, etc. I limit my caffeine to a cup of coffee when I get up in the morning and maybe a diet green tea while I'm at work. I don't normally drink at work, unless someone pays me to sit and have a drink with them at the bar... and I'll have a drink here and there on my nights off. I'd say no more than 4-5 drinks a week on average. Sometime I don't think I eat enough... maybe around 1,300 calories by the time I'm done with my shift and then I go home and eat another 300...but it's hard to increase my calories when I know i don't have the energy to burn them off. I take a butt-ton of supplements... a multi-vitamin, fish oil, Vitamin E, D3, Magnesium, Calcium, b-complex, and i just started taking glucosamine and msm. Does anyone have any recommendations of any way i can help my muscles heal faster? This is starting to get annoying... sometimes I feel like a grandma. It's frustrating because I see girls treating their bodies like a trashcan and they have more energy then me and I'm like WTF?!? I have some stubborn fat and doing some extra cardio would probably help that. Blah...
Also... I've tried epson salt and I love it, but the bathtub in my place is kind of skanky, so unfortunately I can't really take baths...well I can, but it gets dirty so fast I'd literally have to scrub it down before taking one.... ::sigh::

I drink a sf red bull at work when I feel like that. It helps. And when u know u can do more dances but don't because you're tired...STOP! Once you start forcing yourself you will truly see how much you can make and then you will be addicted to the money and realize how ridiculous it was to not dance. I will dance until my knees are literally buckled and shaking if they're paying!

When you say ur sore. What exactly gets sore? Joints, muscles? Legs, back? Also do you work 3 days in a row or split it up?

I'm not a medical professional, but I wonder if you may have fybromyalgia. to me six months sounds like a long time to still be as sore as you are describing. do your muscles ever feel tight? that's one of the symptoms, being sore is another key symptom so is chronic fatigue.
My personal suggestion is that you get a physical with someone who believes in and treats fybromyalgia. it's like chronic fatigue syndrome, some doctors don't believe in it because they can't see it under their microscopes and there's no test to get back positive or negative for the disease.

I hope you get to feeling better!

I've tried working through the pain, but sometimes it effects my mental clarity and i go up and say weird crap to people... like "you're a cool dude". I'm like wtf?!? I try to split up my shifts. I usually have a day off in between each work day, or I'll work two days, have a day off, and work the third. I don't work weekends, so it's hard to divide my schedule up like that.... (I have horrible anxiety and seem to just want to sit in the back when it's super busy). I can't drink stuff with a lot of caffeine, though sometimes when my ass is dragging I will get a diet coke and it picks me up a little bit. Caffeine has a weird effect on me though. It doesn't really make me that hyper except for the body jitters and increased heart rate, which gives me anxiety. Sometimes I'll drink a 5 hour energy and it will give me a little energy, and other times i want to take a nap. I have some mild add too, so I don't really respond like normal people do. I take a low dose of amphetamines for that, and they actually make me calm. Sometimes my boyfriend gives me back massages and that helps a little bit. I just feel like my muscles never really repair and get stronger. My boyfriend mentioned taking creatine supplements, but I don't want to take something that will make me look like a body builder.. lol. Anyone have experience with something like that?

How many hours of sleep do you get a night? Without sleep your muscles can't repair. Also how much have your worked out throughout life? Where I'm going here is if you have been sedentary in general dancing is very physical, you should be drinking a protein shake after work. Stretching for at least 30 mins each day - especially calves and back. Hold each stretch 1 min. Also 1600 cals may not be enough for you. I know a lot of girls here eat as little at 1000cals but I seriously can't function on less than 1800.

I've always been into working out, but dancing is a totally different game for my body. I always get at least 8 hours of sleep if not more. I'm probably not stretching for long enough or eating enough calories. I'm 5' 6" and 130 lbs, so 1500 calories and being active is probably not enough for me. I've heard that if you under-eat your body can actually store fat instead of burn it too, which is probably why I'm having trouble losing weight. I did just buy protein powder, so maybe I'll make a drink when I get home. I've mostly been coming home and eating cereal or some other kind of complex carb. Thanks for the advice.

Creatine won't make you huge unless you are lifting weights like crazy. And likely not even then.

I get anxiety at work too, especially when it's busy. Quitting drinking actually has helped this. Another thing I can recommend is getting some kind of supplement to support your adrenal glands. The reason you are getting anxiety is because they are producing too much cortisol/adrenalin. I've tried a couple different brands and the one that works the best for me (calms me down enough to where I can comfortably walk through a crowded club) is called "adrenal health" by Gaia Herbs.

I used to have pain on my knees from dancing, it would help to take your shoes off when you do private rooms I also took vitamins for my knees and it stopped hurting, im not taking them anymore. good luck!
