    Question Oregon Newbie

Okay totally nervous about this but here goes--

Hi there SW! I live in the Salem Oregon area and am heavily considering dancing to get myself through college and pay off those icky student loans as quickly as possible. I've been lurking here for a little bit but I've got a few questions:

I'm 19, so I guess this means I can only work at clubs not 21+? If so which clubs in the area would be best to work at, for a beginner at least? The only one I know of is that isn't 21+ is Cheetah's and I've got no clue how they are. During the school year I'm kind of confined to Salem area but once school gets out I'm willing to travel.

Also, awhile back I had spinal fusion surgery to correct my scoliosis, so I've got limited flexibility in that area and a pretty big scar down the back, is that going to be a problem?

And lastly, I wear wigs on a regular basis due to some issues with trichotillomania (at least until the patches grow back), is that an acceptable thing as well? Sorry if these questions sound kind of weird!

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know about Salem but plenty of clubs in Portland hire girls under 21, you just can't work the floor which can suck balls if you are working at a high-hustle club (by Portland standards) but there are also plenty of places where you can make decent money just on stage, be prepared to work for it though.

As for the scar, it depends. If you have a smoking bod nobody is really going to care plus the lighting in most clubs is kinda designed to hide things like..oh, say surgical scars from boob jobs, cesarians, what have you. If it makes you self conscious then it can be a problem just mentality wise, and you can try something like dermablend if it makes you feel better to cover it up.

flexibility- I have seen plenty of girls just strut around stage and make money, you don't need to be a bendy bitch to make money. I would look into finding moves that you can use while dancing that will increase your flexibility. Who knows, maybe stripping will help you recover

strippers wear wigs all the time, just make sure you get a good wig cap and have someone show you how to put it on properly so you don't have suffer the embarrassment of a wig coming off on stage.

    MarieCutie,
I actually currently work in Salem, so here's the scoop (:
You can work at any club in Salem except for "Presleys", they are the only club that will not hire a minor. The other clubs are: Stars Cabaret (where I work) which is going to be a little more upscale, Firehouse (a little more divey), Sweethearts (the old Cheetah's recently renovated, which is a juice bar, also a little divey), and Hard Candy (extremely divey). Stars, Firehouse, and Hard Candy are ALL bars that serve alcohol, however you can still work there as a minor under specific rules (not being able to walk the floor, having certain periods of time where you can go outside to smoke, etc.)

And as for the wig, I know plenty of girls that have worn wigs (: I think it is fine as long as it is natural looking.
