    Angry What would you do?!

    I need some advice ladies!

I work with one DJ all of my shifts throughout the course of the week (day shift) and he is awful!! He plays music that doesn't go well with my dancing style (I like slower, sensual music....he plays he Miley Cyrus/Demi Lovato/Call Me Maybe BS), he plays the full song (whereas some other girls that he favors he only plays 2:30), he won't say anything about me between songs or any up talk, leaves me onstage (we cannot leave stage unless another girl comes replace us...and he "forgets" to call the following girl up)...and I am at the end of my rope.

I used to tip him really well until this all started to happen, then I started tipping him the minimum if anything. I don't want to reward bad behavior on his part with a good tip out. I have tried to have one on one conversations about this with him multiple times and he doesn't change. I have told the managers about this, and even though they lecture him, they won't fire him because they are short DJ's. I'm not the only girl he is doing this with, and it really is messing with us. We all have complained but it feels like no matter what we do to try and change the situation nothing good comes out of it. He instead is becoming more resentful and bitter. He doesn't get the concept that if WE as dancers are not happy and don't make money, then he won't be happy because he will leave broke.

I love working where I work, but he is making my day miserable. I had 3 different customers come to me while on stage today to complain about my song choices. They were not my songs!!! I also went to give him my tip out at the end of the shift, and he didn't even acknowledge it or say thank you. Ummm..if you are ungrateful about having my money, then give it back to me. I need money and would be more than happy to keep it. (Mind you, tip out to the DJ's is NOT a requirement or mandatory at our club).

What would you do? Or what do you think I should do? I don't know what else to do at this point. I'm tired of having the same conversation with him every day that I work, and I'm tired of complaining to management about it if they won't seriously fix the problem.

Since tipping is NOT a requirement, go to him (ideally with a manager or floor guy present for witness if you have one that's cool enough) and say look, I want to get along, but I expect to be treated fairly. If you play decent songs, call the next girl on time, etc., I will go back to tipping you well as I once did. I won't be tipping you at all, however, on days when you don't do your job.

the problem with that, joanna is that he prob makes good enough money to not even care about her tip, shes just one girl. plus she already talked to the manager and what not. this makes me angry as hell and it really sucks because its almost a no win situation.

if i were you, i would not tip him just like joanna said and say what joanna said, but he will probably continue doing what he is doing- playing shitty songs. in that case, how about trying to make it fun and sexy? like, the call me maybe song even though its not your style, try to mix it up your sensuality with the fun pop-like. make it sexy, make it work. like wiggle your butt and do the hand phone thing while lip syncing "call me maybe." the stage is the time to present YOURSELF not the song. have fun with it, dont stress make the guys forget that a shitty song is playing and make them focus on YOU. it might even piss the DJ off to see you having fun.

I fucking hate strip club DJs. i would pay an off stage fee long before tipping a DJ, they are all disrespectful pieces of shit.

when will these fucking strip club workers (managers, bouncers etc) understand that their job would not exist without us?!? think about it, OUR job will still exist even if we had no music playing or some moron managing the place, men come to see US. im so tired of the bullshit and i hope ass douche bag strip club workers die a slow painful death.

If all else fails, try tipping him while you make your song requests at the start of your shift or, better yet, right before your stage set. Classical conditioning ftw, otherwise they get used to your tips and don't bother doing anything for you, case in point.

Dives are proof of this. My club has no dj and no bouncers. Just the door guy and the manager. And a bunch of girls. And somehow exists.
