Lightbulb For those of you that are married...

what do you do with your rings when you get to work? Do you leave them home? Wear them? I'm interested in hearing some replies as I will be auditioning within 2 weeks, hoping to break into the industry and begin dancing for the first time at 29 years old (I look younger though lol) and am married. Thanks!

I would take it off, especially if you do a lot of pole work.

I take mine off and leave them at home. If he can handle you stripping then he can handle you leaving your rings at home while you do it. Rings may put a lot of customers off - they don't know your story and they don't need to either! Plus they may worry about jealous hubby's coming to take em down. Also - never trust anyone...and I certainly wouldn't trust leaving my rings in my bags in the dressing room...

Definitely take them off. Your more likely to make money with them off (they can be intimidating to men) and also there is a risk of them getting lost. I've heard of customers finding out girls are married and their income dropping by a lot.

Don't leave them anywhere but in you finger if you forget to take them off at home. My one month old upgraded wedding ring got stolen cause I foolishly left it in my locked locker.

I would recommend leaving any valuable jewellery (especially pieces with such sentimental value) at home. There is the risk that it could get stolen or lost. Also wearing a wedding or engagement rings screams that you aren't "available" and you may get stupid questions from customers about it etc.

I used to wear mine. If any guys asked about it I would tell them it was inherited from a dead relative. LOLZ

I always wore mine, until the diamond fell out of my engagement ring at work and was lost I still wore my wedding band though.

I leave mine at home and always put them in the same spot! Trust me I put my other jewellery all over the house and I always lose it and most of it is worth more than my wedding rings! (lesser sentimental value obviously though).

I guess I am the odd one out! I always wear mine at work (because I'm afraid of losing them taking them on and off everyday). Most guys don't notice or at least don't say anything but the ones that do usually are just like "whoa, you're married? What does HE think about you doing this?" to which I reply "He thinks it's hot." That usually ends the questions, but some customers do get really hung up on the fact that I'm married (Not very many though.) I would say that wearing them has lost me some money, but a very negligible amount when looking at the big picture. Sometimes it is almost a time saver for me cause some guys reallllllllly want to annoy you with proposals to hang out outside the club and I can just be like "Sorry honey, I'm a little tied up outside of here" and casually flash the ring haha

I might add if you are working a few days in a row just leave them off because you are bound to forget and wear them to work. Ive had to lock mine in a locker about 3 times in 4 years because I did this. Now I just leave them off from the 1st day I start working till I finish that week unless I go out for dinner or somewhere nice with hubby.

My wedding ring has a larger stone set in it, and I always left that one at home. My engagement ring is just a band (backwards, I know, lol) and I used to wear that one on the opposite finger. Like, I'd just switch it to my right hand. Most girls I know don't wear their rings. Just invites too many questions and gives some of the shadier girls a reason to try to snoop and steal. I've heard plenty of horror stories about girls getting their rings stolen.

It's definitely better to leave them at home.

    Sorry for the late reply.

They popped it open, probably with something similar to a crowbar. I've seems managers do It before when they'd do random locker searches for drugs etc and didn't want the girls to know that their locker had been searched. They're older lockers.

DEFINATLEY leave them at home! It wasn't a wedding ring but I wore a nice diamond and emerald ring that my grandmother gave me to work (because wearing real jewelry always makes me feel nice! and I even had it on my finger and lost it that night. Must of flew off when I was dancing. I'm still pretty bummed it's gone

Thanks for all of your replies ladies. I've talked to my hubs and decided to leave them at home when I start dancing although he is none too happy about it. I can't believe you had your ring stolen right out of your locker, papillion! That's bullshit. Sorry you lost them and sorry Rockabilly that you lost your Grandmother's ring, I'd be devastated as well.

I have never taken my rings off while working. So, I guess I'm another odd one out. I will also mention than I was always one of the top earners, also. It didn't seem to affect my money at all. (I'm soon to go back to dancing after having a second little one.) Only once did I have someone even ask me if I was married.

And it was funny once... I had a foreign guy (who had been seeing me occasionally... wouldn't even consider him a real regular) practically propose to me. No kidding, he had like a speech prepared, going on about how I need a man to cherish me, blah, blah, have kids with, etc. etc. To which I looked him straight in the eye and said, "You do know I'm already married, right? And since you've forced me to be out with it, I also have a child at home." Then, I flashed my hand which obviously had a wedding band on it. It was quite awkward, but in retrospect kind of silly. He felt a fool, and although I kind of felt bad for him, I can't believe he never noticed my ring if he was thinking about a life with me, lol!
