    Default Working for a studio

I've read nothing but warnings.. I'd like to know if anyone has ever benefited from working through a studio?

I searched for a thread on the topic, but no luck. Maybe for new girls, this would be a good sticky. the pros and cons of working through a studio, suggesting good studios that do good marketing..

..or just a thread full of warning and bad experience stories..

I'm assuming you've read Roast's stickie, so check out this thread:

    and this post in particular:

^Im going to keep going, Im just going cross-eyed and have to do something else for a bit so Ill come back to edit this to add more. I haven even linked to external sites like RipOffReports.
An addition to Roast's link here: ...once the info was posted in verified several of us contacted the studio to warn them that the name were posted publicly. Once we got in contact with the studio owner, it took the site almost 2 days to remove the files. In the meantime, we had the pleasure of contacting the hundreds of chicas on that list to warn them about what was happening. Not fun. Studios take $$$ from cam chicas for this ish? Not worth it.

In truth, the vast majority of studios make claims about traffic and placement upon which they can't deliver. I promise you that any chica who takes the time to read camming connection for even a couple of weeks will learn more about how to bank than any studio could teach her. With all the above warnings, why take the risk?

There's a reason why the only studio with any cred around here is the one that DOESN'T promise to increase traffic, but rather is designed to enable chicas to access their $$$$ more quickly. Cam sites fail every day due to an underestimation of the difficulty of providing paying traffic, so why would some studio be able to provide a benefit in that regard over sites that have proven they CAN promote and provide traffic (sm, aw, mfc, etc). Simple answer, they can't. That's why they need to trick chicas into signing up with them.

    peace and $$$$$

There's a reason why studios advertise and seek out girls...there's money it for them!

sorry but..i'm sure whatever "bonuses" they are giving you are NOT worth being in a studio for. (aka- not worth losing a percentage of your money for)

Any "help" you need we will be GLAD to give you here on SW. The only benefit of working for a studio, is actually working AT a studio. Having a location with a computer and internet.

Keeping your full percentage is worth WAY more than any bonus a "studio" will give you.

I am actually with DailyPay which is a studio that takes a percentage but the benefits, for me, are worth it. Many people do not need these benefits and if you are not one of them I would stay working directly with Streamate. As SM support said, "studios" do NOT give you better placement, that's a lie. I would not want to work with someone who lies in order to get a cut of my money. If you contact SM support they will tell you all you can do to get better placement. Among their suggestions, you will NOT see "join a 'studio'".

The only reason im with the studio is cause when i first started camming it takes awhile to get a paycheck from sm and i needed money right then and there for my kids cause of a devorce i was going thru. so it just depends on ur views. I do work longer hours to make what i need and i work my ass off but atm it seemed really good to get paid in a week rather then a month i didnt have to wait. Working directly for sm would be a good idea unless u needed money now. Although i do love my studio and they have helped me ALOT!

its just when you say "my studio gives me bonuses" and someone new to camming might read it and be like ohhh woowww bonuses!! i will try a studio!

bonuses (i am assuming money bonuses?) are irrelevant because all they are doing would be giving you back some of the money they have been pocketing from you all along.

btw i'm not trying to attack you or anything ..just trying to point out that that is not a "pro" of joining a studio for someone who is trying to learn about them.

Camgirls should be working towards indi camming, NOT considering studios of any kind. I love DP but in all honesty I'd rather have the skills to promote and get enough traffic to my indie cam than pay a % to ANY other person. The type of studios the OP has read about are the lowest of the low. Unless you're in a country where you are unfortunately forced to work through one, you should not be considering it. All they do is take your money and control your hours and freedom of choice.

Taylor it sounds like things were different back when you signed up with your studio and you made a willing decision to join one.

As things are right now though its not a smart thing for a new girl to do. Models in the US can contact support (on SM) and have their pay bumped to every week. As hottie already mentioned the concept of 'bonuses' are nothing more then illusion. Its simply the studio rewarding you with some of the money theyve been profiting off of you as an incentive to keep you motivated and working for them.

Any model thats currently with a studio on SM and doesnt want to wait 6 months to a year to be able to sign up independently should explore the option of switching over to PJs daily pay service. She has both daily pay and weekly pay now. theres links about it here- http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...princessjenny*

Most likely if you run your numbers and compare what you earn from your current studio % including bonuses to what you would earn under either weekly or daily pay, you would net more with PJ at the end of the day.

I wrote this ages ago, but thanks to SW's autosave we can uh time travel:

Drinking game: each time I say studio, take a sip.

To play Devil's Advocate with... myself, the pros are:

-you have no idea to navigate the site and application process and impatient and just want to get signed up already
-It is a site based in another country that has payout options or currencies are unavailable, inconvenient or not useful to you
-youre someone who finds self-employment very difficult and need someone who contacts you regularly who acts as your manager. camgirls have a reputation for having a hard time with schedules and consistency (hey good bad or indifferent, just throwing that notion out there), so if this is a chronic problem... well, a studio is as invested in your earnings as you should be and will probably let you know that you need to get online
-If you need (or want) accelerated payout and OK with the costs (not too many studios offer this, but more referring to the ones who do)
-your studio uses social media sites to advertise when models are live so that means youll get added viewers every so often (this is if you dont care about geo-restrictions, note I am saying viewers not customers)
-youre curious about how youre doing compared to other performers will real figures (some studios post top 10models & earnings)
-you really need your hand held in orderto set up your cam, computer, and broadcast.
-Not everyone cares about autonomy and that is OK and your prerogative
-you want to be associated with a wellknown studio, pornstar, or porn agency

    Inevitabilities:
-youre a pornstar and youre with an agency that signs you up for cam sites and you dont have much of a choice but to use their studio. some SM studios get press releases posted on xbiz so I guess added exposure?
-The site mandates you sign up with a virtual studio to even broadcast due to where you live and you find a studio with the least amount of fees
-you signed up with a studio (for whatever reason) and built up a huge following so leaving it is just not viable or attractive option because youll have to 'start over' which will cost you in the short run
-you worked in a physical studio, moved away or no longer need it and are stuck in the virtual studio of the physical studio

A forum Im on argued that studios are a good way to prevent fraud and minors using camming sites because they have a small group of performers they regularly check on and check the stream of... basically they can always ensure that the model who signed up for that account is always the model streaming, while a large site's customer service cannot routinely do this.

Not saying Im now an advocate for virtual studios, but that is some of the thinking behind those who choose to join them? or the thinking behind those who willingly choose to stay in the ones they are 'tricked' in joining.
