Dizzy When to retire those peeling/chafed/nasty heels?!

Ok, I'm a little bit confused. I haven't been dancing for too long but I've already been from dives to upscale clubs and noticed the same thing....dancers who wear totally effin banged up heels. And they still make money. And ironically they tend to have nice pedicures and pretty put together otherwise. Maybe they aren't like dirty per say, just totally banged up...

Do guys really not care? Is the lighting so dark that dancers can get away with wearing their stilettos until doomsday? As soon as my shoes get scuffed and the bottoms peel, I get paranoid and toss 'em. Am I wasting money? I mean, I only really notice it in the dressing room lighting, I admit.

I mean I know that guys aren't exactly looking at your feet but in some clubs your feet are right in front of their face while on stage.

How is it that girls, even in a higher end establishment get away with heels that are scuffed, chafed, peeling, mended w/glue, and even dirty? I mean I know shoes are expensive but....am I missing something? Can you wear mended and scuffed shoes if they're clean? I tend to notice it more on black and opaque colored shoes.

My shoes look pretty messed up after a month but I know some girls who wear the same ones for like 6 months or so...and you can kinda tell. Not that it deters them.

So, when, oh when, is it time to retire those heels?

Oops maybe this is more appropriate Body Business....I'm new to I just stuck it on the Newbie board.

And one other thing, I know I girl who's been wearing the same shoes almost a year, and brags about it. They look pretty messed up but don't smell or anything. Is she just being ...ummm....smart or a total cheap ass?

Basically, yes. Most customers aren't there to check out the shoes, so they're too focused on staring at the goods to notice scuffed up shoes. The customers that are there to check out the shoes (ie. foot fetishists) tend to prefer shoes that you can tell have been used anyway.

If they're falling apart, toss em. But if there's only a few scuff marks, I don't see the point in buying a new pair. Added expense apart, it takes a few shifts to wear in a new pair of shoes, and those shifts suck on the feet. I can't be bothered to do that when I have a pair of heels that are basically fine and super comfortable.

Basically, there are way more important things to a stripper and to customers than the newness of the shoes. If you have enough time to focus on the state of all the other dancers' shoes, you should probably be spending more time hustling customers.

Ime, even a brand spanking new pair of shoes would end up looking scuffed, battered, and miserable after one night of doing the splits three ways, using them as traction with polework, and (i wore closed toed shoes) spinning and standing on the toe area of my shoes, lol.

Also, I'm sure everyone is different but I actually prefered to dance in shoes that were worn in and that I 'knew' how to navigate in while I was on stage. Nothing was more nerve wracking than going up on a stage in front of a full house in a pair of shoes that I wasn't comfortable in yet =/

Lol. Not exactly dwelling on shoes in a way that would negatively effect my time spent hustling.

    Thanks for the reply though.

In my club girls have the habit of leaving their shoes on top of their (at eye level) lockers at the end of the night with over head lights, making every scuff and flaw easily visible. And I'm not really talking about scuffs, I'm talking major tears and peeling soles and the like...its this I am confused about...

I only notice it in the dressing room, not on the floor, or stage. In my club girls are actually not allowed to approach, let alone sit with, customers seated at the stage.... so I can't actually do my favorite thing in the world which is sitting at the stage, not hustling, and staring wall eyed at other girls dirty shoes, speculating. So I figured I'd ask here!

Yes, I've had many a ruined night from new shoes, ruined to the point of having to sit out. I also do alot of floorwork, which for me at least, results in aging my shoes tremendously even after one night. I can dig that. I can also dig only wanting to wear super comfy broken in shoes. I've worn shoes for months as long as they are reasonably in good looking condition. I've glued, touched up with markers and nail polish and the like, to stay comfortable.

I don't know, maybe its just the club I've been at these past few months...skewering my judgement. Not a dive, not upscale. But, man, have I seen some messed up shoes. Like, wouldn't wear if you paid me shoes. Maybe I'm repressing a foot fetish!

My shoes are pretty damn disgusting.... But I have NEVER had a man complain. Nor do I lose money. When you look good, who is looking at what's on your feet? Someone who probably isn't going to get dances...

I'd rather spend £50 on my nails, or hair, rather than a pair of shoes which nobody notices in club lights.

People notice my shoes..In fact a dancer complimented mine the other night..She was very sweet...I think its important to buy a new pair maybe once every two to three months depending on how often u dancer per week- also some girls r really rough on their shoes and those girls prolly should get a new pair every month imho...U dont want ur shoes to look like shit bc it does downgrade ur overall image when ur shoes r shot to shit.

I have four pairs that I rotate through and they basically all look new, when they're all a year or so old. I find shoes seem to last forever if they get nights off.

It seems like customers don't notice or care if they're just the normal solid color or clear stripper heel... those can be beat to shit and still be okay. If you're wearing things that are glittery or rhinestoned up though, all like "LOOK AT MY SHOES THEY ARE BLING" they won't last as long.

its the comfort. Used worn in shoes are soo much more comfortable and i dread buying and breaking in new shoes. As long as they dont smell or look gross i will wear them until they break.

Thanks, this is all good to know. I was about to fork over more mula for another pair of shoes, when I really think I can just stick with what I have. They fit my fee to a T.

The men don't care. When has a man ever known or noticed anything about shoes? If there is a foot fetish guy in the club he will more likely love a spare of stinky well worn shoes too!

I wear them into the ground, they're quite expensive, working shoes, and it's a bore to get a new pair and get the fit right.

I have to admit, I am a shoe girl or rather more of a boot girl. I have around 20 pairs of stripper boots/shoes lining the walls of one of my rooms at home. But yes, my shoes will show wear & tear after one night. My new thigh high black boots got torn after only 15 mins. of pole tricks. They are torn up the middle:-( (Thank God I only paid $22 on sale. Were over $100!). I do get tipped for my unique boots as well as the usual stripper stuff. They do get scuffed. I'm just really on top of it with nail polish, markers and windex.

I am THAT girl who brings 3 pairs of shoes to work one shift, lol.

    This^.
Stripper heels tend to last me a long time, and they don't get battered too easily-they look good but are of a simple design. I stop them getting grossed up with fake tan or sweat by wiping them down with a cloth after each shift (or in the morning if I'm too knackered).
When I buy blingy rhinestoned, fancy dance shoes-as soon as they've been worn a couple of times they don't look good anymore. So I dont buy them anymore.

I have a pair of leopard print high heels that I wear when I fancy a change, but again they're a simple design, they stand out because of the print.

Worn shoes can be a hazard. imagine tripping on that torn flap on the bottom of your shoe because you were too lazy to superglue it!! embarazzing
Yes, this is where black duct tape, and electrical tape, and rubbing alcohol, and super glue and shoo goo come in handy. Things like thins should be included in the strippers survival kit in her locker. And speaking of its a good idea to keep a backup pair of shoes in your locker incase your feet hurt too much and/or your strap breaks on your shoe or something else shoe related happens before the end of the night.

and i notice that some dancers take their shoes off to dance in the vip - gross!!

I agree that there's no need to be obsessive about shoes, but my main issue (sorry in advance!) is that they can effing STINK!! I mean it's basic principles--heat, dark conditions, no freaking air underneath the plastic...etc). When I danced I tried to clean out my shoes (the insides) every week. Also lotion can cake up between the sole and the plastic and that grossed me the hell out.

On the plus side, my feet looovved worn in shoes so much better. The plastic didn't squeeze my foot and the bottoms worked so much better on the floor. New shoes always were a pain in the rear to break in.....

And I second not ever having had a comment on my shoes--unless it was from the rare foot person; oh and even grosser than my previous statements: I had a foot fetish guy who WANTED to rub and smell stinky dancer feet!!! LOL eww. but whatever. Sure dude, smell my stanky feet and pay me 100 dollars to sit on my as-. Oh, men.
I'd grab my trumpet and I'd do a stripper sound, like the old Louis Armstrong, real raspy. And the people would go nuts! Then I knew that the sexual, sensual, guttural sound, that throbbing sound, is where it's at.
