OMG! ME!
I am not anywhere near pursuing my education, but to be totally honest, this field is one where you can work independently or with an independent midwife. If you have any problems getting a job as a CNM at a hospital you can pursue a position with a clinic where you can be hired on a more personal level.

How long will it be til you begin to study?
Well firstly I'm scared about not getting into uni because of it, do they do these background checks?
Also I don't get what the backgrounds actually say/give the impression of, is anyone able to enlighten me on this please?
Well I'm expecting a baby right now, and I'm going to be doing the "long way". I'm getting my ultrasound tech requirements, then my nursing degree, then I will become an OB-GYN/Midwife.
I really don't think they are going to do a serious FBI status background check, more likely a criminal background check. They most likely want to be sure you don't have a record of substance abuse or other such criminal record. I am not knowledgeable at all about background checks, but I would think it would have to be PRETTY in-depth to include your work history (taken from your tax returns).

I thought I would be but I am not 100% sure what I wanted to take in unversity and the midwifery programs in my province are alot simpler.

Which country are you in? The level of background check varies from place to place - and even state to state! Some places will just do a basic criminal record check (which will not show up ANY employment, just convictions), while others will do a full background check, including credit rating, criminal record, employment history and education history.
However, even if you do have to have a detailed background check and your employment history shows up, depending on which site you work for, they may have no idea what it is. If you have applied for a post, put SOMETHING on your cv/resume for your cam work, even just "independent contractor", "online sales" or "web help and affiliate marketing". Note that you work for more than one company for this work. Your background check will come back to your potential employer in a format similar to a resume - it will simply list the names of employers and the dates that you worked for them. If you have included something on your resume for your cam employment, it won't look at all suspicious - they will most likely just match up the resume and the employment record, see that the dates match, and leave it at that.
If I were you, I would check a couple of things. First - find out the level of background check needed for your area/state/country. Second - find out what the local precedent and legislation says about morality requirement for midwifery. It shouldn't be a big deal, but some places can be very strict with adult industry workers in the medical profession. You can use this information to figure out if this is something that you can pursue. (I would assume it is!!)
Worst case scenario, if your state/country does not allow anyone in the adult industry to work in the medical community, but you still want to pursue this, you can either move, or work independently.
Midwifery is an amazing profession - I have a couple friends who are midwives, and they LOVE it! Hope it goes well for you and you love it!

I'm in England. Ah you guys have made me feel a lot better thank you![]()
Manyroses thanks so much for the detail!

Ah! England is MUCH easier - the heavy-duty background checking really only comes into play in the US, unless things have changed recently.
You will probably just have a CRB check done (criminal records bureau) that just shows up any convictions. If you are going to be starting work immediately, you would have a List 99 done first (it's like a mini CRB check, takes a lot less time) while waiting for the CRB to come through.
You DO have to provide a list of employers as well as addresses for the CRB check - DON'T PANIC! They don't check up on who the employers are - they just confirm that the employment record matches your tax records to verify your whereabouts. All you need to put is the same thing that you put when you are filing your taxes - if you file as an independent contractor, put that. I ran CRB checks for a while, and I don't think I even registered the company names most of the time, I just checked that the words matched - I didn't think about what the company was unless I recognised it and thought it was interesting. Even then, it was just interesting for ME - it didn't affect the check.
I'm not 100% on the laws surrounding midwifery, but I don't think that you would have a major issue even if you were found out.

Okidoke thank you so much
Do you know off the top of your head if I can see anywhere on my account on the tax website what I wrote that I did? If not then don't worry, I can just check it out later
Hey so I'm applying to uni now, ucas, and have to put my employment history. I'm not quite sure what to do for camming :/

Haha I'm not that stupid!
I've put my part time job on. Would it be bad to not even put anything for camming or should I deffo cover it up with online sales stuff with my camming dates?
My tutor has to check it afterwards and I'm so worried about him asking questions :/
Could I put 'online sales' and say I help out a friend with her eBay business every now and then?

I would think your experience in camming would be an asset-Afterall, you DO have experience with a vagina all day long! That's GOT to be an advantage somehow, versus, someone who came from a secretarial background, no? Just remember You will be removing something FROM the vagina, versus putting something in! And the heavy panting will be a lot different then the sounds You are used to while camming, and coming! Lol! just joking-You will be fine-GO FOR IT!!!!
I was going to do that also, but realized that I would have to be oncall and that turned me off on the whole idea.

This caught my eye because I'm seeing a midwife right now for my first pregnancy. She's awesome too, and I think getting into the midwifery field would be awesome! There's such a close connection with my midwife, she's very supportive. Other people brag about there regular doctors but I thin midwifes are amazing! Lol
❤Much Love ❤
