Hi everyone! I've been reading the posts here for a while but never posted bc there's so much info already here.
Anyway, I've been doing bachelor parties for almost 3 years in Southern California. I've made great money and really enjoy it but had never worked at a club. At a party this guy was telling me and my friend all about this restaurant/club that has dancers at 6pm-2am every night and that they make great money so me and a few girls decided it wouldn't hurt to check it out. It wasn't like a typical strip club, no poles or vip but strobe lights, bottle service and girls giving bikini and topless dances.
We came in, the owner said hi, you girls are hot, come in any night you want. Didn't ask for an ID or have us fill out an application or anything. The other girls working were super friendly and we started working that night.
We worked for about 6 months when suddenly 5 cops came in and "busted" us. They asked the customers to leave and gave the 8 girls working tickets for lewd conduct & indecent exposure!!!!!
2 misdemeanors! We were all DRESSED when they came in - we were about to leave and i had sweats on! The undercover said he didn't see me dancing but to give me a ticket "just in case". There were a few girls who weren't even dancing that they gave tickets to! So I guess the problem is that this place is considered a restaurant and not a strip club. It's not like I strolled into Applebee's and started grinding lol, this is WELL KNOWN as a strip club.
Is it really my responsibility to check that they have the proper licensing? What should I do?! I have court soon and I've had a ton of medical bills and don't have the money for a lawyer. This on my record could prevent me from getting jobs. Should I deny that I was even working? The undercover identified other girls but have no proof on me. Or should I admit it and tell them I just didn't know it was illegal?
Any advice is appreciated!!!! Thank you all and make that money$$$![]()

I hate vice and this cop sounds like one of the real asshole types. Like others have said, just tell them you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and got taken advantage of by the owner. Also say you weren't dancing or naked, you were just a female on the premises of an establishment that was operating illegally. It's all gonna come down to what kind of judge you get and what kind of lawyer you get.
