    Default Escort Persona & Name

If you were with an agency, did you start a brand new persona when you went independent? Or was your agency cool with referring clients to you? How'd you pick your indy name? Car + pet + city? Do you find that having a surname makes you easier to remember than having just a first name?

I'd be very surprised to hear of an agency that would be so supportive of a girl going independent that they'd refer clients to her. If she's no longer with the agency, they no longer get a cut of her earnings, so why would they want to send one of their clients to her?

Yeah, that's what I figured, but I thought maybe offer them a smaller percentage, like 20%. Still, it's not the 40% that they're getting now. Too bad, I liked my escort name. Now I have to go figure out another one.

FWIW I've seen independent ladies work for an agency for awhile then go back independent with the same name. Why do you think you need to change names?

Hi, this'll be my first time going indy, so I don't have a prior indy persona. I just thought it might be better to start fresh.

It depends - do you have a repeat client base and reviews attached to your current name? different sites have different rules, and if you want to start fresh you can, though it would make it more difficult. I'd stick with the same name if you have reviews, otherwise you might as well start a new one.

Definitely get a last name - no first name is unique; they've all been used at this point, and a full name will guarantee that when someone searches for you they'll find you. Think about something that both looks and sounds nice, maybe with a personal twist to it somehow - like having one of the names shared with your favorite author or artist etc...

Thanks, Dixie. I have a few reviews but they're mostly on the agency site since those clients aren't review board members. So those reviews hold less credence with hobbyists anyway.

Good for you Curvy! Showing face can help but usually it does more damage than good. Linking to old reviews mostly has to do with your current needs. Are you strapped for cash or can you afford to wait around? Depending on how review-driven your area and personal preferences for business are, you could be dead for weeks until your new persona gets reviewed, or you might be fine.

I know personally I think it's nicer to have a fresh page than to show multiple names - and one idea is to, on the DL, link new clients to your old reviews, prove it's you through email much like we verify their work email addresses, and explain it's for privacy that you now have none. I would only do that until you have a new client base developed and new reviews as your new persona. It's not like you're trying to trick anyone, you're just trying to regain some semblance of privacy, so you're probably going to be able to let that slide - I'm not sure what TER support would do, but I would consider creating a third party account, accessing it from a coffee shop through a proxy server so they don't connect it to your persona, and contact support asking if it would be possible for privacy reasons to ensure that your old profile wouldn't link to your new one. I know they won't delete your old profile, but they may consider just not linking them. You've got a 50/50 chance of them agreeing to it, and a 50/50 chance that they won't change their mind later. That's why I'd recommend a third party account just in case you change your mind, they change theirs, etc. before anything is set in stone.

If that sounds too complicated PM me and I'll explain further!

Agencies will sometimes want to name you and they pretty much want to a pick for you for thier agency not really a name that represents you, sometimes it is possible to be with an agency and they will accept the name you pick but then there is that weird transiction of when you become independent if you want the name you had the agency to be transformed into being independent which doesn't always go well becuase the guys on the review boards will only remember the name from the agency and not you as an independent.

plus when you go independent you kind of want to make your own brand and business since the agency pretty much only concerns themselves with their own brand and business.

Definitely use a last name. I didn't and wish I did all the time. I probably laughed when I came up with mine and was thinking "just like Cher!" Now, all I do is get annoyed and wish I could have a silly last name. Make sure another provider doesn't share your name. That is pretty annoying.

If you are raising your rates or changing services you provide do not link your profile.

Plus I will also add whatever name you pick do search to see if any other escort out there has the same name. I do searches on my work name every few months and came across a lady in San francisco using the same name as me and when I emailed her about it she told me she didn't search to see if someone else had the same name so it was mildly annoying.

You might have the same last name as another escort which I think is fine but the same first and last name is damn right annoying.

I knew I wanted a first and last name, that way my name would sound more personal...and I think it saves me from a lot of "what is your *real* name" conversations, since my name already sounds/feels real in a way..more than something like cute like Bunny would (or whatever...Im just saying lol) plus if a guy has that in his phone, it doesnt scream "ESCORT/DANCER!" I could be a biz associate for all anyone knows.

I chose a bland first name, and the last name of a favorite (though somewhat obscure in America) actress that Im a big fan of. I also took care that my name matches my heritage, since Im caribbean and advertise myself as such. From a marketing standpoint, it matches me (I look like my name if that makes sense) there are only 2 other ladies that show up on Google with my name, and though there are about a million other escorts with my first name (its super bland) my last name is unique. I also dubbed myself with a nickname as well that Ive never seen another escort use, and that guys think is adorable. So they can call me by my "real" name or my "pet" name, a search on google brings up all of it, and there is no way I could be confused for anyone else. If another escort came along using any of my names Id be mad as hell!!

Definitely go with a first and last name. In my area, the one, obviously fake name (i.e. Cherry, Porsche, Destiny etc) is seen as low-class at best. My escort first name is pretty close to my actual first name, which makes it easier for me to respond to it in social situations. My last name is Taylor, which is 1) very common and 2) my old stripper name.

I also had business cards printed up with my first and last name and my escort phone number. No other details are on the card. I only give them to clients once I see them and my return rate has gone way up.

Thanks, Taylor. What, so calling myself "Maybach Laundaulet" wouldn't work? Lol. Funny you mention business cards, I've started designing mine already. But with all the heat from the Kennebunk-Zumba fiasco I'm laying low for awhile.
