    Default Any Over 40+ Dancers?

I am just curious-how many dancers here are age 40 and over? I am contemplating getting back into dancing on a temporary basis, but scared that I am too old. My body hasn't changed much if at all since I was in my twenties, so I am ok in that department.

I used to travel from Tampa to Massachusettes with a dancer who was 40+. To be honest, I found it to be weird, but she actually grew on me. She made a lot of money and was very professional. Also, when we would hit the gym during the day on trips, she would put me to shame! Lol

Are you still hot and in shape? If so, you'll be fine.

I am still pretty young but I feel if I was 40 and still looked good, I'd go for it, as long as you look good, I think age works in a woman's favour, I know the older I get the less stupid/naive things I do, and the more $ I make. And I have worked with many women 40+ some are super hot and rock the milf look, others are classy, sophisticated women, and others you'd just never guess they were a day over 28, but most of them all have a confidence and savvy that the younger girls lack. Not to mention the older dancers are the ones I notice tend to have slews of loyal regulars at their beck and call. I'd imagine it might take some time to get back into the swing of things, I don't know how long you've been off for, but judging by the breaks that I have taken in my dancing career, going back is like ripping of a bandaid, you just have to do it, the anticipation is worse than actually going back, which I always end up enjoying. It doesn't sound like you "need" to go back to dancing so much, so don't take it too seriously, I'd just try out a club nearby for a night or two and see how you feel. If it doesn't go your way, you don't have to go back!

I have been pondering this for the last 4 years. I have some work to do to get back into club shape but thanks for putting it out there. I would like to hear from other over 40 dancers so that I can get a realistic idea of what I can expect if I return.

Theres TONS of over 40 dancers working at Spearmint Rhino in Vegas...They all look great too (Im sure due to eating healthy, exersize, botox exc., exc..) but yea customers can't see the difference and in my opinion they make more $$ (prob have their eye on the prize better)

I work with a few girls who are 40+ and I think one who is even 50+. They all do really well because the guys who are older don't want a girl who is their daughter or granddaughter.

This is fabulous, thanks for the feedback it's giving me the courage to believe I can do this I just have to get back into dancers shape. I have been working in sales the last 6 years and I have never felt like it was "me". I am needing to change jobs but changing to some other sales jobs just doesn't feel right. Others things I am interested in I would need to finish my education in order to go into them. Dancing just seems to be the way to achieve the goal of still being able to pay my mortgage while doing something i enjoy and finishing my education. After all these years I realize I did actually enjoy dancing. I did let it mess with my head at one time but the truth is I love being sexy and in shape and moving my body...anyway enough about me. Thanks again for the feedback ladies!

I'm over 40 and not planning to stop any time soon. Customers think I'm only in my late 20's. They think I'm young but mature, lol!!

While I myself retired from the stage before 40, I can definitely vouch for the fact that there is a significant segment of strip club customers in their 40's, 50's etc. who aren't particularly interested in dancers who are young enough to be their daughter or grand-daughter. And, demographically speaking, strip club customers in their 40's, 50's etc. have more 'discretionary' money available to spend than younger strip club customers these days. So yes 40+ dancers have better opportunities today than at any time in the recent past.

On the flip side, just because some older strip club customers can relate better to older dancers, this doesn't mean that their expectations regarding the older dancers' physical appearance has 'slacked off' in any way. Thus being a highly successful dancer at age 40 also typically means strict attention to diet, never-ending workouts, botox and/or other plastic surgery, etc.

And going beyond that, even though a 40 year old dancer may look younger than she is on the outside, that unfortunately does NOT mean that she won't feel like she's 40 on the inside. I'm referring to the 'fatigue factor', to chronic aches and pains, etc. These were a major contributor to my decision to retire from the stage when I did.

^^^ True. Just to add. From personal experience and pushing 40, I think it's better to work in a more upscale club when a dancer is 40 and over. A club that is more of a nightclub atmosphere with high traffic made out of young barhoppers, and at least 50% customers being young women, will not be the best option, because the younger generations now think it's cool to be rude and make fun of the dancers, especially those older than them. Upscale clubs are more sensitive to disrespect.

Having said that, there are tons of older dancers and most of the time they are top earners, even with the drastic change in the business in the last 10-15+ years. Gym/diets/cosmetic treatments are a must, although I look at it as a good thing, not only you're doing it for the job, but it will be of great benefit in personal life.

That is the problem I see..That the people who come in in their 20s think its ok to make fun of the dancers who r 30 and over. Im just a few years over 30 and I feel this...Its a shame bc Im def hot for my age, but I dont look 21 anymore and I cant pretend like I do. I cant see with the shit earnings nt he clubs investing in expensive cosmetic treatments for every little age related flaw that pops up..Thats too much money that sadly I dont see in this area...This isnt a big city area with upscale clubs.

do it! the dancers who are 40+ at my club definitely have the most loyal following from their customers in the club, and they're some of the top earners, too.

There's a dancer in my club who is at least 45 and banks every single night I work with her.

ETA: Actually, a good number of high earners in my club are around 30. I'm sure it depends on the club, but I know in mine, the girls who look like they're 17 and a half don't have as much luck.
