    Lightbulb EASY DIY outfit tutorial

Hey guys. So I came up with a cheap, easy way to make a sort of matching outfit super quickly and cheaply. A lot of stores in general have cheap t-shirts. These can easily be made into a cute, fun, outfit. Pick out one that fits snugly or without too much wiggle room for best results. Have a marker and scissors on hand. You will end up with a tummy-baring half shirt and matching garters, armbands, or ankle bands.

    1) Put the t-shirt on inside out, stand in front of the mirror and decide where you want the bottom of the shirt to sit on your body. This can be anywhere, from above your nipples to around your belly button.

    2) Make two marks with the marker to indicate the bottom of the shirt, and take the shirt off.

    3) Using the marks as a guideline, cut the shirt about 3 inches below your desired bottom line. (Once it's cut, it stretches more easily and will sit higher up so that's why you allow a few inches. You can always cut more. But once it's cut you can't make it longer again.)

    4) Take the fabric you just cut off, and cut it horizontally into bands. Try to make the bands between 3-4" wide, so you may get 2 or 3 or 4 bands out of it. These bands can then be doubled up to go around your thigh, tripled up to go around your ankle or arm, or 4x'ed up to go around your wrists. if you find them falling down your thighs, you can secure them in place with double sided tape or tie little knots to make them tighter.

(Sorry about the pic quality, just snapped some quick shots to give you all a visual aide.)

Interesting! I've made jean shorts and cut up a shirt into a crop top, but never thought to do anything with the strips

    There's no sewing required!

If you're slightly more creatively inclined, you can use an oversized tshirt and do a laddering technique. Youtube has some good tutorials (search for "tshirt laddering"). I promise it's a lot easier than it looks once you get the hang of it. I've made a bunch of shirts and even a couple halter dresses that way. Even sold a couple while on cam to guys wanting to buy one for their girlfriends.

    Example 1, Example 2, Example 3

Some of the ones I linked to are a little more advanced but it gives you an idea of what can be done.

Definitely have done this a few times, and yeah, it is way easier than it looks. Made a ton for my sister's birthday one year.

I typically go to a thrift store and look for newish higher end shirts though, I feel like if you just got cheap shirts from walmart or something, they wouldn't hold up as well once you remove chunks from them. Ymmv though.

Added some pics, hope it's a little clearer now, you can literally do this in the DR if you're ever in a pinch or just want something a little different to wear.
