Default Going back to dancing/New Orleans

Hey y'all.... Sorry if this is in the wrong category... I have not been on this forum in forever! Missed talking to all of you. OK so I quit dancing a little over a year ago, and for quite some time I was happy with that decision. Mostly I was happy with it because I live in Southern California and the market was so awful and sporadic that the money wasn't good enough most of the time to make me miss dancing. However, some things have changed for me and it's now become a possibility for me to move back to the South. I would be living within driving distance of New Orleans as well as other large Southern metropolitan areas that have decent clubs. I probably would be going back within the next few months, so before Christmas. My main question for you girls who dance in N.O. is -- is it worth it to go back? I would be spending about 4 hours each weekend driving + hotel and gas money in order to be working there. So if it's a good profit, I'll go for it. If it's not, then I would just try and get a regular job. Also, when exactly are the best times in N.O. to dance? I worked during the summer and made fairly good money even though people had told me it wasn't a good time to work. I've never worked any other times although I've heard football season is good. I guess there's no way to predict, but what have been your yearly observations? I intend on trying out at Rick's, Scores, Penthouse and maybe Barely Legal/Hustler although I heard they do a tax form and I got screwed on my taxes a few years ago. I appreciate ANY information y'all can give me.... especially if there's anything that's changed about the format of the clubs (i.e. if they're not hiring as many dancers, dance dirtiness, average earnings, etc). I greatly appreciate it!!

    Hey girl,
I am in Nola. I have lived here about a year now. It def is better now than it was in summertime, but still not very good. Maybe this is just a slow fall. I would like to hear more veteran Nola dancers opinions, but I think probably spring is the best. I hope it work out for you.

Honestly its not very good right now. Stripclubs are very popular on our local review boards and the "brothel" mentality is strong with the locals. Even the "upscale" clubs are letting things slide to compete.

Getting local regulars could be harder because most of the local population patronizes a club out in East Nola called Visions, but its a dirty club. I hear stage tips are good though.

As far as tourism goes,we still have tourists - they just are a younger crowd who aren't high rollers and expect more mileage.
Burbon is increasingly trying to appeal to the "party vibe" instead of the upscale vibe and it seems to be offputting to a m
Penthouse and Ricks are good money still - if you can get hired. Penthouse has a lot of dancers "supplied" by a particular strip pimp and Ricks is mostly interested in ladies from Eastern Europe ( whenever I go in there the management is all speaking Russian. I can only imagine what kind of favoritism is given towards Russian girls vs regular dancers . Also, it seems to me like they aren't hiring as often. 2 years ago I had no problem walking into a club and waitressing for a week and maybe doing a VIP if the guy was really a spender. Now they actually post ads on CL when they are hiring for anyone, even dancers, and expect a longer commitment. The same clubs that used to ask me to come in an do an audition as they saw me walking to work now hardly seem to even let you speak to a manager when you walk in.

I've worked two nights at Rick's this week after being gone for a year and it is slow.slow.slow. Last night we had 50 girls on and very few customers! Rick's is very clean these days though, compared to some I suppose. But I still think it is too full on based on their not being enough clientele!

Same story at Barely last night. Way too many girls on for too few costumers. Hoping it picks up soon because I know last year at X-mas time it got really slow. Have to make up for summer and holiday money soon.

Pretty much the same as the other girls are saying. Im local, the Summer is always slow, i did alright, but ly expected it to be better now. There are a million girls, my club is dirty, i usually do fine being clean (i sell alota personality & let them know im there to entertain) but me & some other clean girls are starting to get frustrated. Keep up with the conventions to know who is in town & when, they list them in the gambit a free monthly paper. Right now we have plastic surgeons & the Dr groups are alarmingly cheap. This past week is really one Of the worst ive ever had $ wise, so i imagine it can only Go up from here.
