    Default Slip on style shoes?

Is there a tangible difference between wearing slip-on style shoes and the ankle strap ones? I've only worn ankle straps, and I found a really cute pair of slip-ons that I'm considering getting. I know logically they probably won't fly off your feet during a pole trick, but... they look like it! And I'm scared! Do slip-ons affect your balance or provide less ankle support?

Sometimes they slide off a little while I'm on stage, but I do a lot of floorwork, not pole tricks.

You can always use garters to keep them in place.

If it's the clear plastic kind, they can slip off quite easily if they are not very tight to begin with/stretch out too much. BUT they hold on very well if you buy the right size... (the size i get is a perfect match for my foot length but the plastic is too tight when new, so i hairdryer them to size) My first pair were a great tight fit, no problems. When they were over 6 months old, they plastic was losing its elasticity by then and they started flying off during energetic pole sets... not a prob if you are calm on stage but a bit annoying to be thinking about your shoes.

Stability will be a little worse if they aren't a tight fit, but you can tie them on with a garter/cut up some tights. Most girls do that at my club when the shoes don't stick very well anymore. If they fit snugly however I've found no difference in balance.

the clear top slip on shoes hold very well, the plastic sticks to the top of ur foot. i actually feel my feet slip more in traditional ankle strap shoes. HOWEVER the clear plastic top WILL NOT stick to hoisery/thigh thighs so be careful.

I never really wore slip ons for dancing, although I greatly prefer them. *imagines a custy gettin' bonked on the head, by a shoe! I think if they're a good fit, & not slipping it should be ok

I suck at walking in heels in general so I always look for shoes with ankle straps because I feel I can walk better in them---the straps give the shoe more support and stability. If I'm wearing a slip on/mule style shoe, every time I take a step and my heel comes out of the shoe, I feel less stable/unbalanced.

5 years dancing and I've only worn ankle strap ones. I'm too accident-prone for the slip on ones.
