    Default Officially a stripper... but

Not sure if this is normal... I only receive $8 in tips ($5 from clients) The dancers were very friendly to me, I felt like I fit in, some people told me I was beautiful... I love the place. If this works out, I think I found my dream job. But in all honesty I was kind of annoyed by the tips, and it was probably my fault... and the slow night.

The dancers make the big money doing the lap dances in the booths it seems (two told me they make bank, 3k a month). No one really tips the dancers. It's a "strip club / bar".

My face isn't the problem, it's my body, in my opinion. I realize body is very important in stripping.

I have horrible almost- none hustle skills, I am way too shy, and so self-conscious about my weight.... I am the heaviest dancer tonight at 5'7 / 170 lbs. But I pass the audition... I am a stripper. No one made me felt like a joke. So I must be good enough... I kept on doing the same dance movements if you call that.... "swirling around the pole", "walking in place" oh god.

But I want to continue working here, since this is a dive bar. And I want to be ready to make it in the big stripping clubs at the start of January. I want to learn how to do this well.

In Ontario and Quebec, tipping is basically non-existant, so it could be worse! However, are you always asking for tips or making it obvious that they are appreciated? Whenever you explain the price, plant the tipping seed: "It's $xx and tips are always appreciated!" Then, at the end of the dance, when you're collecting money, say something cutesy like, "Did you want to tip me for being so cute?" with a BIG smile. Be really non-chalant about it so it's not awkward.

Unless these girls are working once or twice a week, find a new club. Assuming they work 4 days a week, that's only $187.50 a shift.

Maybe. It's important to be fit and in shape, but what's infinitely more important is this:

If you have no game and are not confident, this industry will eat you alive. Start working out if it'll make you feel better about your body, and until then, focus on your positive features to up your self esteem. Also, read Hustle Hut like it's your bible. Looks play a big role in this industry, but even a perfect 10 will walk out of the club with no money if she can't hustle.

Also, your dance movements are fine. You don't have to be a pole monkey or super flexible or anything fancy when you're on stage. In fact, it's better to keep it simple and sensual - just make sure you're making eye contact with the customers and smiling/not looking bored up there.

Good luck! You haven't been at this for long, and there is a steep learning curve in this industry, so give it some time and you'll get better.

Thanks, yep it's the hustle that means more than anything else. I seen strippers less attractive than me facially in the dressing room, but they beat me in the body, and definitely in appearing sexy on the floor.

Yesterday was my first night lol. I am pretty sure I learn a lot about it.

Ah! In that case, I wouldn't be too concerned. You'll get the hang of things in no time - just get comfortable with yourself and interacting with customers, read and apply the tips in Hustle Hut, and you'll be raking in the cash in no time.

Also how long are the shifts? Like if you're working a 10-2, $200 a shift isn't awful at a divey club on a weeknight. But 3k a month is not 'bank'. Honestly most girls I work with would be PISSED at 3k, most work short shifts 3-4x a week, and it's a dive. $3k a month is like, day job money. This job has no retirement plan and a definite expiry date, varying on the person. You need to be stacking serious money right from when you start.

^I was assuming 5-6 hour shifts as well since that's about standard in my area. And you're right, for a short shift, $200 isn't awful in a dive club, but there should still be a good shift here and there (at least on weekends) to up that average.

OP - If you feel comfortable posting what city you're in, perhaps other girls will be able to chime in with recommendations for clubs with high earning potential.

Algonac MI, it's in the middle of nowhere, and the strip club I go to is like 10 miles away. Then the next closest is Detroit, but that's like 40 miles. It wouldn't be worth my trouble to drive that long. I plan on moving though in January to California.

I am also finishing up a college semester so that's why I am in MI.

Ah, okay! Well all you can do is up your game, ask for tips, and just make as much as you can while you're finishing up college. 3K is still a pretty respectable amount in comparison to the vast majority of jobs a college student can have, and stripping has the added bonus of being way more flexible.

i definitely concur that most of your money will be made in lap dancing/VIPs. i live in NJ and the most i'll make in tips on stage (during a weekend night) is like $150 (unless mr. whale comes in). stage tipping really varies from club to club. in urban clubs, most of your money would be made from stage (they like to "make it rain," apparently). also, in my state, you can't be full nude with a full bar, so if you work in a full bar (gogo joint) your money would probably be primarily tips at stage. but nude/juice clubs (which i prefer and find more profitable) are lap dance clubs.

also, youtube is an excellent resource to learn dance moves. you could invest in a pole at home not only to learn skills, but if you feel insecure about your weight, if you do an hour on the pole each day, TRUST ME you will tone up. you could also check out pole dance classes-they're getting pretty popular these days, see if there's one in your area so you can learn from someone willing (and more importantly, WANTS) to teach you how to dance.

good luck! don't worry, we all looked awkward at first.

Don't even worry about the body thing as long as everything is proportional. I've seen girls way thicker than me BANK. If a guy likes you, your insecurities don't matter unless YOU make them matter!
Always shoot for and average of $100/hr, especially when you first start (5 dances/hr). If you don't make it, work longer shifts in order to get the hang of it.

Most clubs that I've worked at I had the unfortunate circumstance of being the prettiest girl working on that shift. Not to be conceited, but that's just the way it is when it comes to neighborhood type clubs that are more like bikini bars than the full-out gown clubs where beauty and perfection is a standard. I found it harder to make money when I was put into the same room with other women who had bodies that looked like they had five children, who were very large [size 16!], homely looking, etc. The guys found the women who were average looking or not as attractive, worn and weathered, as being very approachable and they made all the money while I sat at the bar night after night. Guess my beauty intimidated lots of men who knew that they'd never approach me on the street to talk to me let alone having to pay for the privilege to talk to me in the club and buy dances. Now, it wasn't always like this -at one time when I was younger, ten years ago, the stripping business was more profitable in general for all involved.

So don't worry - study the threads in the hustle hut here, and enjoy being in the spotlight. You are now living what many women consider to be a fantasy - to be on stage and to have all eyes on you. And, you will get in shape especially if you really put a workout into your routine by using the pole, doing stretches, and by doing more than just standing around and looking bored like so many dancers do on stage nowadays.

Oh and another thing, men are paying for the privilege to see you dance, they are PAYING so if anyone in that situation should feel shy, insecure it should be them, not you. Make them treat you like the queen that you are and if they don't then they aren't worth a moment of your precious time.
