    Angry RIPPED OF BY AMAZON PLEASE HELP *cries*

    I received an email from a customer service rep stating I'd be getting a FULL refund of $254.99 and to go ahead and put the item in the mail..

    It took a couple days of calls and emails to get a straight answer about how much I'd get back. Once I finally got that info, I put the item in the mail.

    Who in their right mind would return an item not knowing the amount they'd get in return? So after bugging them a bunch they said it would be a full refund of $254.99

    When the refund posted to my account it was $140.

    They said there was a $114 restocking fee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This is what I wrote to them about and called about for days trying to figure out BEFORE mailing the camera back.

    I asked "will I get a full refund or is there a restocking fee?"

    I was told I'd get $254.99

    this was 2 MONTHS AGO!!!!!!!!!!

    AND NOW...

    they are saying my claim will remain closed and I will not get that $114 back!

    They said the reason was because the customer service rep who told me I'd get $254.99 was WRONG.. it was HER MISTAKE.. therefore I don't get what I was TOLD I'd get.

    In what WORLD does a company NOT HAVE TO HONOR a promise they make? Even if she was wrong, I still am the one paying $114 for HER MISTAKE.

    IS THIS Right?!!!!

    I'm in a different country, do you have a consumer advocate or a small claims court you can turn to?

    Is it an item sold my Amazon.com or from a seller on amazon? If it was sold by a seller, maybe consider going directly to amazon support. If it was amazon itself I am not sure.. If you paid with a card you could try to get the charges removed for being fraudulent. That really blows.

    I agree. Many credit card companies side with the cardholder and will reverse the charges.

    Another solution is to contact your local news media and check if they have a consumer advocate. In Seattle, KING 5 news airs a daily feature named 'Get Jesse". The news person (Jesse) helps people solve problems with companies jerking them around. I contacted them myself regarding Comcast but was able to resolve it myself. Some of these corporations will try to outlast you hoping you'll give up on your claim, but threatened with bad publicity, they will often negotiate. Can you make it more public?

    I feel for you. These types of situations are so time consuming and annoying. Good luck!

    Sadly, I've had experiences with several companies not honouring the word of one of their customer service reps who happened to be wrong. It's bullshit.

    Did you ask Amazon about your refund total by email? Then you have a record of the conversation and inaccurate information as well. If you do, forward that to support and tell them you want to a full refund or you will be contacting your credit card company. Give them one last chance to make right.

    They were 2 years old. There was also mention of Peopleclaim.com (?) Seems like its a third party dispute service you can use. You can either use it free or pay a small fee for premium services. (I didnt really look too hard at it- a lot of fine print) Seems like you can make your complaint public and they'll lobby against Amazon on your behalf or something like that. I really dont know.     I spoke with a supervisor again and said I'm willing to testify in small claims court, file a rip-off report, go the the better business bureau and any other legal action thats available to me if it doesn't get solved with this phone call.

    she said she'd handle it personally and call me by friday.

    yeah we'll see.

    I've never had any issues with Amazon directly, but I have had some minor issues in the past with sellers through Amazon. For the past couple of years, I've paid for Amazon Prime and couldn't be happier. If the product I want isn't available through Prime, I buy it from a different site- I'm always just slightly nervous about getting ripped off by some cheap seller.

    I was going to suggest small claims court.
