Hi there^^
I registered a few months ago and I've been lurking since, but now I'm finally making my first post.
About me: 19, Asian, female. I'm fascinated by the sex industry and I'm thinking about becoming a camgirl/stripper myself. I'm just nervous about taking the plunge. I don't want to live a "normal" life. I really don't want to work a 9 to 5, 40 hour work week at a suffocating deskjob until I die. I am attracted to the sex industry because of the excellent money, the ability to set my own hours and not having to beg for time off. I used to work as a store clerk in retail. I was paid $12/hour and I hated my boss and dealing with customers. I had to kiss customers' asses, my boss screamed at me all the time, tried to control my personal life and I hated waking up at 6am to get ready for work. I felt horrible and degraded everyday during and after work. I quit after a few months and I have never felt happier. That was the catalyst to me researching the sex industry. I wasn't taking my clothes off, but I hated my job, hated my life and I was paid shit too! What was the point?
Lurking on SW has been a huge eye-opener. There are so many misconceptions about the sex industry. Yes, there are a lot of creeps who want to take advantage and sex workers who fit bad stereotypes, but people are just too diverse to pigeonhole into neat little categories. I think it's intellectually dishonest to simply say that the entire sex industry is evil, all customers are losers and that all sex workers are bad, "slutty" drug addicts. Many of the men who frequent stripclubs/camsites/escorts are desperately lonely. Most sex workers just want to make an honest living (not stealing or leeching off welfare) while maintaining the quality of life a decent wage provides. Many sex workers are supporting themselves through university degrees and/or children. What is so wrong with that?
I'll be doing a lot more research about camming before making a final decision (^_^) I really need to get my body into shape and hackerproof my laptop too.
