Default no bs. why so negative?

I've Bern lurking for awhile and it seems like a lot of posts I've seen have been unusually negative. I understand its difficult and that but some of you seem to really hate it. I know my expectations from this site. I won't be making 2k a week and some days/guys are going to be shitty. I just want to know (since some ppl have been pretty honest) is it even realistic to make a minimum of 400 USD a week? I just want to match what my bf makes so we won't struggle with bills.

    def realistic

As to your first question, tbh I don't think most chicas here hate camming. Rather, think it's a just the fact that part of the function of sw is as a social space, where we blow off steam after a long day/night of work. Who doesn't talk about frustrations at work sometimes? We're all sunshine and roses compared to the way people bitched endlessly at vanilla jobs I've worked in the past

I almost think that we're doing a good job of portraying the job here if you picked up on the fact that camming is tough, because alot of chicas try it expecting to bank right out of the gate. That's often unrealistic. Effort and consistency is the key to a great stable income. When one is first starting out, income per-hour can vary widely, and the trolls on cam...will never go away. That said, I know alot of us enjoy our work and make wicked $$$$ doing it. Once you get into the groove of camming you'll probably find yourself raising your weekly goal.

$400 should be easily attainable if you have a decent computer, webcam and internet connection and are willing to put in the hours required. How many hours it will take only you will know. It could be a couple of hours, it could be alot more. There is no 'right way' to cam or surefire way to bank, although reading here on sw should give you some great tips regarding what to expect and how to maximize your earnings.

If you haven't already, these two threads are vital reading: and

Beyond that, ultimately you won't know what your earning potential is until you try it.

    good luck

You know I was just thinking on how even though times are tough for Cam girls sometimes, it beats the hell out of other commission based jobs. 0 dollar days for them is horrifying and is usually followed by more because most are sales jobs. We have the whole web to work with.

Oh and this site is probably the best (most realistic) site for camming that I've seen.

$400 a week is attainable if you have a decent computer, good cam and good internet uploading speed. Hell, you could even make that in a day!

I read about a lot of girls who set a goal of $100 per day or more and then get replies that $100 per day is easy to get.
Then I see girls who set a goal of $400/day.
While camming is not my main source of income I try to be optimistic and say that if my camming/content income pays my car payment and insurance every month I am a very happy camper. That is a grand total of $600/mo lol!!
Do I make it? Of course! But I'm also on cam no more than 10 hours per week.
Should the economy fall and I lose my business that is my main source of income and make camming my primary source, I would set my goals as follows.
    $18/hr x 40 hours per week = $720 per week. If I could do that I wouldn't complain because that's what I make at my '9 to 5'

Oh and when a site sucks, I leave! I don't come here and whine about it. There are sooooo many sites and my theory is, take advantage of the new girl promotional phase. If you bust your ass and make a lot of regulars in your first couple months, when they try to put you out to pasture you will have established traffic. I think maybe a lot of girls who are new to camming don't know that. I had to learn it the hard way when my MFC score died
And why did it die? Because I was lazy

Keep in mind that our perception of "time is money" is drastically different from most people working vanilla jobs. Even during the toughest time, we are doing better than someone working 9-5, but knowing what our potential is, falling short of that sucks.

My best friend called me up all excited because she got this promotion she had been counting on...she was all, "thats almost $3000 more a year!!!!" and Im thikning in my head...OMG thats blows ass! So you have to work longer hours, have more responsibilities, and work harder for an extra $60 a week? You got scammed In the vanilla world, thats a huge deal. But for us...if Im going to give myself a raise and bust my ass harder, I sure as hell better make more than that.

Sometimes when Im complaining, or a friend of mine is complaining about how slow it is and how shit gets on our nerves, I do have to stop and laugh at how spoiled we are. I mean, doesnt change my perception..Im just totally aware of it. I was like that with phone, cam, and now even with escorting. I remember when making $100 in an hour would have me bouncing off the walls....now I make more than double that an hour and sometimes when a guy asks if Im avail for a 1hr date Im all..ehhh, if it was a multi-hour maybe, but I dont feel like getting ready for just an hr when I can finish this riveting episode of Law & Order instead

So yeah, this def is a place where we can vent and talk to others whose perceptions are just as warped, and are able to understand.
Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink!

I think that you see girls "hating camming" when they aren't making much money camming. The ones that make good money tend to love it. I'm sure that's true with anything though.

    And yes, $400/wk is realistic.

I think that a lot of it is that we tend to come here to blow off steam when we are feeling frustrated or broke...it's a shame that it comes across that we hate camming!!

I certainly don't hate it! But I definitely do bitch about it more than I should...

I think it can also come across as being negative because we are trying to help newbies to stay safe, and to have a realistic expectation of earnings, so that they don't quit or get scammed. It can definitely seem very negative to always be telling people that they will be insulted, won't earn a lot right off the bat, are at risk of losing jobs/being stalked....but it's just that we're trying to help!!

As to earning $400 a week - you should be able to do that easily. Even if you have another job, that's just $100 a night, working 4 nights. It may take you a few weeks to get there, but you can do it!
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

    Yes!

I quoted this part of your post because I think some people need to be reminded that we CAN and WILL vent on here sometimes. Does that mean we hate camming? Of course not! Anyone who HATES camming should find a different job. It doesn't matter what field of work you're in...everyone complains about something job-related from time to time. Complaining a lot right in front of your customers, however, isn't a very good idea. Is it better to A) go crazy and cuss out every guy in our public chat, or B) wait 'til we're off cam and vent on here with fellow models who can relate?

This forum is a great place to come when you want to let off a little steam...as well as post about the positive stuff. The ladies on here who are considering camming shouldn't JUST read 'The Brag Thread' (or whatever it's called)...they should be reading the other threads on here too, including that 'Camming sucks right now' (forgot the name of it) thread. They don't need to be joining cam sites with the misunderstanding that they'll be raking in hundreds of dollars per day when they sign up.

I know that sometimes we sound a little spoiled when we complain about things like being removed from daily pay (most people with "regular jobs" have to wait 1 or 2 weeks to get paid), or about how we didn't get any offline tips today, etc...LOL. Just take a look at the 'Stupid shit you hear when you're on cam' thread, and read about some of the stuff we deal with...lol.

I know you're not allowed to have music playing when you're doing a Streamate TV GOLD show, and for a site like SM or MFC (with public chat awkward silences) I would NEED to have some music on. I don't know how some of y'all do it, but KUDOS to you!

Anyway, Happy Hump Day, ladies! I hope that you have a good, productive Wednesday, and that you earn your goals!

Ok just my $0.02 but that isn't always the best strategy. If you want to make money CONSISTENTLY then bouncing around from site to site isn't going to help you do that. To work up to $400/week and maintain that (and surpass that) you really need to build a presence on one or two sites and be consistent on those sites. Repeat money comes from repeat customers, i.e. your Regulars. If you try a site for a few weeks, think you can do better elsewhere because you read about other girls doing better elsewhere, and then you leave or neglect your current site you're just going to be starting from scratch over and over again. OP, as an experienced cam model who's relied on camming as my only job for two years please take my advice when I tell you that constantly chasing new girl status isn't going to make you the money you want.

That being said, it is important to recognize when a particular site isn't a good fit for you. Some sites don't work for every girl and it's foolish to keep camming on a site where you earn a pittance just because you know other girls are banking on that particular site. I recently had to give up my first ever site (SM) because even though I felt a loyalty to them and tons of girls here are doing awesome there, it just stopped cutting it For Me. It took me several months to finally leave them for good and I had to experiement with a couple of sites while I still cammed on there just to make sure I found a good fit. Now my primary site is one that most girls on this forum hate and think it is a waste of time but I couldn't be happier with it and the amount I'm making there. So yes, while you have to know when to throw in the towel and move on to greener pastures please don't think that site hopping compulsively is the way to make the money you want. It isn't.

People love to bitch about their work - even people who make a really good amount of money in their work. I really think it happens in every break room - this is our virtual break room!

I am sometimes ashamed of myself for complaining that I "only" made $20 or 30 an hour during slow times when there are so many stuck in minimum wage hell.

You can absolutely make $400 a week and way more with the information here.

What you see as 'negative' most of the time is actually camgirls being supportive of other camgirls.

Think about the amount of people who go to a bar after work, to vent over a beer about their workday.

Now imagine you were an alien with super hearing and walked into that same bar and hear EVERY conversation happening at the same time. I am sure you could also come away with the idea that humans are 'negative' and just bitch about their work all the time.

Since this is a virtual space you are able to hear every conversation in the equivalent of 'our local watering hole.' There have even been some amazing and heart-warming threads that have been started just in the last 24 hours. It is just that you aren't quite able to recognize them yet for what they are.
