Default Living With Work Colleagues - Good Idea? Bad Idea?

I'm currently in the middle of a relocation and for the last month I've been staying in a hostel while I house hunt, which has not been going well. When I was working last night I talked to a girl who told me she might be moving into a flat and need a flatmate. Seeing as this was about the third thing she said to me I was kinda put out and didn't give an answer straight away. I can see some good points and some bad points and I still don't have a decent read on her yet. I told her I might be interested and I wanna check out the flat if she's up for it, because I don't need to decide either way just yet.

Anyway, I figure you ladies would be able to give me some advice. Anyone able to help?

Ive shared with 3 dancers (one who I currently share with). The issues Ive had have never been anything you couldnt encounter with a non-work roomie. The first one drove me up the wall because her personality was too bossy. The second one was amazing but after 6 months she started partying all the time and stopped paying rent so we had to kick her out but we still actually have a really good relationship. The girl I live with now Ive never had any issue with as of yet other than day to day normal little things that are no big deal. I prefer living with dancers cause I know they arent going to get jealous or talk down to me about my job, I have someone to hang out with during the day if I want to, and I know they arent going to steal my shit or money. But I guess it totally depends on the girl. The ones Ive lived with are all pretty switched on girls and normal.

I live with another dancer now. We seem to compliment each other pretty well, and it's nice to have a similar schedule to someone you live with, and have someone to vent to.
I didn't know her all that well going into the situation, but my intuition said she was good people and I went with it. We were both pretty nervous about the quick decision we made, and we're both happy about it now.

I think Jessie hit the nail on the head - you are likely to encounter difficulties, but not more than you might with someone you don't work with. I think it's important to evaluate your personality and what you're looking for. I've lived with fellow dancers before. It was nice because we could carpool, make late night snacks together and be super open about our jobs. I've also had bad experiences though with dancers who didn't pay rent and did drugs in the house. If you like to have a close relationship with your roomie it could be fun, but make sure your personalities are suitable for each other and that your goals are compatible (school, partying, working, etc) good luck!

Depends on the dancer. My ex roomie was a heroin addict who used to use our cutlery to cook her shit. Same criteria as non work roomies. Make sure your personalities and lifestyles mesh.

No thanks, U couldnt pay me to live with a dancer..Too much competition, hating, backstabbing...That stuff doesnt leave when u exit the club..I dont welcome that into my real life time, thats too sacred to me.

sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't. I've had a gr8 housemate experience w a dancer ! and a terrible one, but really only bcuz her borderline abusive bf lived there too. they got kicked out. the great housemate was great while it lasted, but moved out super last minute and shorted her last months rent. u pick and choose ur battles.... its usually good cuz lots in common, and same sleep schedule xD
