    Default Ugh..getting sick. Help!

I feel a cold coming on, which is no surprise since I have been home with my sick son for a week. Of course now that he is finally getting better, I start getting sick. So any tips or tricks to getting over a cold fast and prevent it from getting worse? I started drinking Emergen-C this morning. I really dont want to be stuck at home for another week, I'm going crazy here!

Go pick up some Lysine capsules from the health food store. some drugstores and grocery stores carry it but I tens to find better selection of supplements with less fillers from natural health food stores though you still need to read the label.

Lysine: 1 gram every hour for five hours taken with vitamin c or aspirin to help it saturate the blood better and get carried alk over your body. Then for the next few days take one gram every few hours to mop up the remainder crud.

Some good D3 probably would help too-- if you don't normally take it and don't get hardly any sun, I'd take 50,000 IUs each day for the next few days then drop to 20,000 IUs.

take some hydrogen peroxide and put it in eash ear for a few minutes. You can snort once (which is painful but effective) a capful of hydrogen peroxide, or you can swab out your nose with hydrogen peroxide drenched q-tips.

You can also oil pull if you read up on it and are so inclined.

There was something else I was meaning to try next time I got sick but I can't recall what that was....

anyway, disclaimer: I am not a doctor or licensed healthcare professional. The above suggestions are only what I would do or what I have done in the past.

Thank you guys so much! Unfortunatley I was having some problems with my internet and didnt get to see any of your replies until today. (After I got worse and came down with a fever.) My fevers gone, but I still have the runny nose, sore/itchy throat, so I'll be using some of these ideas as soon as I can find the motivation to go to the store. I've been taking lysine since I already had it on hand, and I did the peroxide inside my ears. I dont think I have the balls to try snorting it lol, but I'll def do the q-tips I have heard of oil pulling but never actually took the time to learn what it was about so I'll look into that as well.

I've been trying to catch up on my sleep, but it's hard when you have a sick 3 year old He's over the fever and all that but still has congestion and a cough so that makes him cranky. A poor sleep schedule and bad diet is probably why I got sick in the first place, so I really need to work on all that.

The last time I took airborne it made me sick to my stomach. It's been a few years since I tried it but the bad experience makes me not inclined to try it again lol.

I'll also pick up those zinc pills from walgreens.

Thanks again for all the suggestions guys! I appreciate it.

Yea airborne is really good. I take that at the first sign of a cold and it kills it. Also I gargle with listerine or any other type of antiseptic mouthwash for sore throats.
