Default SM vs MFC -- Building a brand?

Hello ladies! So, I'm getting back in the camming game, and I'm torn between Streamate and MFC. Of course.

So far, I've mostly been camming on SM. I find it's pretty easy to make decent money doing show after show, and I've quickly developed a few regulars. I've also given MFC a try, and yes, I understand that it will take some time and dedication, but the camscore thing is disheartening although not a total dealbreaker.

What I like about MFC is the ability to form a brand. I want to sell videos and photosets, have a wishlist, pimp out my twitter, etc. From what I understand, even mentioning my twitter on SM will get me suspended, correct? Is there a way to go about selling content on SM? I considered making a simple website (about.me or tumblr perhaps?) to list my content for sale and broadcasting the link while I'm live on SM. ...Basically similar to a MFC-style profile but hosted on a different website. Does that even make sense? Do you guys think that would be successful? Or will I just get suspended? I'm overall pretty happy with SM, but building a brand is very important to me.

I am drawn to MFC for the reasons listed above, but there are a couple of things I'm curious about-- I spend a lot of time lurking cams, and it seems like most of the ladies on MFC do public countdowns. Personally, I'm sooo not okay with showing my pussy in public or doing public cumshows. *Is it possible to be successful on MFC doing private shows only?* Also, is it true that every customer who buys a private show, gets a recording of the show saved to their account forever?

Perhaps I will just switch back and forth between both sites as I please, but I would appreciate your input! xox

SM does suck for creating a brand - you have to basically use the same name on SM and assume that guys are going to put two and two together, or search for you. Basically ANY advertising will get you suspended or banned - so putting up a link to another site would NOT go over well. Even watermarking your feed is a no-no (although I do it).

One way around it could be to create your brand and then use SM for shows - have your own website for content, wishlist, twitter, etc etc, and have a link on there that goes to SM...and do some clever promotion.

I'm sure that there are some girls on MFC that can make it without doing public shows, but they are definitely in the minority. It's why I have stayed away from using my MFC account....

Thanks for your input-- yeah, I think I'm gonna go about creating my brand and then broadcasting wherever my mood strikes. You say you watermark your feed even if it's a no-no...have you ever been in any sort of "trouble" with SM over it?

I get that they don't want outside advertising, but at the same time, I feel like allowing girls to develop a "fan base" will bring in more money for them as well.

They feel that letting you advertise yourself may (and they're probably right) have guys spending money on you off site or with another site that you're on. That does not make them more money. What does is wgen you build up a fan base off site and use your cammodels link. SM will suspend you for sharing offsite links. They will ban you if it keeps happening.

Yeah thats the one thing I HATE about SM but I dont have the time to build up a fan base on MFC right now. Time is money! It is a great investment to make though. If you have the time I would do MFC. The earning potential is WAY higher then SM.

Camming isn't my fulltime job, but when my regular biz gets slow (which it has recently), camming has saved me. And as I mentioned above, I want to build a brand and turn it into a job. I think I am going to put more time and effort into MFC and see where that gets me. Time sure is money, and it's hard to sit on MFC as a new girl and watch my camscore dwindle! But maybe with patience it will pay off. SM is great, but I do see a higher potential with MFC! We'll see!

I've never had a problem with my watermark, but I believe that it is mostly because it is just my SM name at the top left corner. My SM name is the same as my working name everywhere, so it lets people find me, but it doesn't actively send them to another site.
