I am brand new to the state and my family is tight on money after the move and need some cash! I can't afford a license yet, what clubs in Seattle can let me work it off?

Pandora's will let you work it off, but Pandora's is scary. Hopefully someone else on here will be able to give you a better answer!

Go see Tony at Lake City DJV or Anna at DreamGirls at Ricks. If you're cute enough, they'll give you a license loan. You can pay it back over a few weeks.

The Sands also fronts promising dancers the license fees but they're more particular on appearance than the other independent clubs.

Getting hired for nights is easier than getting on day shift (the opposite compared to most other clubs). The day shift has a steady group of beautiful and fit girls (health and gym-membership types). Competion is tough. So, I would try night shift.

DON'T go to Pandora's. They hire the girls fired from every other club that can't work anywhere else. Even Dancing Bare's rejects get hired there.

I went to Pandora's once with my hubs and a friend of ours and every chick there was either grossly overweight, scary old, heavily drugged out, or some combination thereof. My friend had a girl sit on his lap and she was so fucked up he had to hold her head up by her forehead while her eyes rolled up in her head. A few girls approached my husband and asked if they could come work at his club, and he gently declined all of them. The crusty old housemom was bartending and scowling at everyone. No energy in the place at all. The stage is small and bizarre too, the pole is on the corner instead of the center. The whole place was ratchet as hell.

Anyone know if this account of Sands is factual?:

I have to put in my 2 cents here! I've been selling costumes at Pandora's for the last month and I'm NOT seeing what I'm reading here! Now, I cannot vouch for the past dancers nor can I say that everyone here is a complete straight arrow (after 20 years of dancing I RARELY met girls who didn't do "something") but there are many, many beautiful girls, the management is fair and I have NOT seen a massive amount of drug use (420 is the main.) No, not all the girls are gorgeous but there are many girls who are beautiful and most make good money. For me, having just come from Nashville, it's been a real relief to NOT be around whacked out drunk & oxy laden lunatics! The girls are nice, most are moms and they are kind to one another...in one month I've only seen ONE girl do any kind of melt down and that was about something outside the club.

I know the Vu clubs are nicer but Pandora's isn't nearly as skanky as the other independent clubs I approached to sell costumes in!

I am a newbie so please know I'm not disagreeing with what others have seen...I just know that in the last month I've been in there 3 days a week and have not seen some of what I read soooo maybe things have changed? It is NOT a high energy place nor is it a "premier" club but it might work for the original poster....

    PinkMinx:

Actually I don't watch the dances since I'm in the dressing room selling costumes. So now I "get" it...I thought the comments were mostly about looks & drug use...as far as "how far" the girls go, I don't know. I do know that other dancers get really mad at girls who DO "go too far" so I know some are definitely NOT breaking the law but surely some are...as in every club.

Back in 1979 it was very clean and no body contact...we were doing $2 table dances, no one touched us and we were more like go go dancers (topless only.) When one girl starting touching the customers and charging $5 we were all ready to kill her...and clearly the tide has progressed to what it is today. There were dancers back then that ruined it for everyone and there are clearly girls like that in today's clubs too. One bad apple and all that...but every girl has a choice on how they treat themselves and how they allow customers to treat them. Dancing isn't an easy business...I always chose to be able to hold my head up and not have some creep waiting for me by promising (or doing) things that would get them acting weird!

Sands, is incredibly tough. I have (almost) always managed to make money here despite not offering services beyond dances, but it's extremely hard. I don't think I've ever tipped more than $60 between manager & waitresses, but I do pay $150 for my house fee. It is an extremely hard club to work at. If I hadn't built up a great relationship with a couple of the managers & some regulars that really appreciate a girl who's sober & actually enjoys providing some fantasy time, I would've moved on. But despite being probably the lowest tipper in the place I kinda get my run of things since I've very professional (and at some point it must be nice to work with someone who they know won't do anything that'll get anyone arrested!). When I'm in Washington, I dance here still.

That said, there just aren't any truly good options in Seattle for dancing, from what I gather from talking with other dancers & visiting other clubs. And the drug problems at Sands are once again getting so bad that I can hardly stand to be there (sure as hell motivates me to sell more dances & spend more time in the VIP instead of the dressing room though!). If you are truly serious about dancing, don't bother doing it in Seattle. Go somewhere else. If you're stuck, well, there are ways of coping & making money while staying (mostly) legal. But, I'm the butt of an amazing amount of jokes and comments about how damn hard I have to work to make money competing against cheap extras/full service girls.

Most clubs here will front you the money for a license, as mentioned above. But I don't know of any clubs on this side of the mountains that does not require a license before you can work. Hope some of this is helpful.
