Dizzy Just some reassurance/advice pwease :)?

Right so I'm 18, in education, have a vanilla job that pays around £40 a week, and still live with parents.

with camming I only aim to make like £10 a day.

What I want some help on is that is there any way my parents will find out my income including camming through taxes or something?

    Taxes are so mind fucking

    thanks X

I have no idea? They've never asked how much I earn from my vanilla job. But I sorted out my taxes in sept to say I'm self employed etc :/

Are you getting student loans based on your parents' income?

How long have you worked your vanilla job? If they were paying your taxes for you I think you would know (assuming the system there is at all like it is here), because either you would be giving them your paperwork for them to file it for you or they'd be opening your mail for you.

You will see on your vanilla tax slip if you are paying taxes, which you will be.

I've been in my vanilla job for one year and a half. I don't get student loans or anything as my dad earns quite a bit but I'm hoping to go to uni next year.
I get cash in hand and haven't had a cash slip in about 2 months now (they just out the money in an envelope and sometimes include the payslip but haven't noticed me paying tax yet :/

On my vanilla job pay slip, it doesn't show any thing about me paying taxes

Grab one of your old tax slips.
On a normal one, you'll have your gross on the left and how many hours were worked. On the right it'll show any National Insurance deductions and Income tax, and under that your NET income. If it's not showing you as paying tax, then that's a bit dodgy. Not you, but your employer.

So you're not at uni yet, but when you do, you'll just be getting money off your dad without any funding bodies being involved?

I'm afraid I can't really help, but I'm just trying to clarify things so that when someone comes along who knows, all the info is here! When I worked while living with my parents, it was in Greece, and I never had loans for Uni here.

    That's what I was thinking...
It's your employers responsibility to pay in on taxes for you out of your paycheck. The reason things are different with camming is that you're your own employer. Sounds like you're getting paid under the table.

My father will pay my accommodation, my course is funded by the NHS but ill still get a little loan for food etc i guess!

    That's ok, thank you

Paid under the table so it makes out cheaper for the employer? So does the employer make the pay slip? I thought they were printed out or something when the employer had sorted out the wages and tax of the employees

Your employer will not find out about the other job. That's not he business and he doesn't deal with those taxes, he only deals with the taxes from the job he employs you for (which it seems he has not been dealing with). The taxes for camming you deal with on your own. And if you don't want your parents finding out, I'd suggest doing research about how to file your yearly taxes and doing it on your own, because if your parents are doing your filing for you, they will find out.

Rosanna, in the UK tax is only taken out if you're earning a certain amount. I worked part time for a few years and was never taxed.

Nobody will find out about your camming unless you tell them. Most camming companies are based in the US so you are exempt from taxes and filling out W9's. They just give you the money and expect you to take care of filing as self-employed in your country.

I am with AW which is English isn't it? It's not paying actual tax I'm worried about as I only make enough to go shop with or go out in the weekend haha, I just wanna file so I don't have a huge fine or the tax people on my back!
So if they won't know about my camming are you saying they won't even know about me filing as self employed?

I'm really sorry about all the questions I just really wanna make sure I get my head around it instead if having little panics now and again with unanswered questions

It doesn't matter where the company is based - you pay taxes according to the laws of your own country/state. So it doesn't matter where AW is owned - you are self-employed/contractor in your own area.

If you are being claimed on your parent's taxes as a dependent (very likely, especially if they will be supporting you during university) you do have a moral (and in most places, legal) obligation to tell them about any and all sources of income. Your income will affect their taxes, and you do NOT want to have them dealing with an audit and tax fraud because you lied to them. That said, you don't have to tell them exactly what you do, you can just say that you are working online doing affiliate marketing (or something similar) and give them the totals that you are earning and paying.

From the sounds of it, you will not be earning enough to pay taxes, but that doesn't mean that you don't have to file. You are still earning, so you need to fill out your tax return anyway, and then you will basically calculate that you owe $0, and that is that. To be clear - you will have to DO all the requisite calculations, you can't just assume, but tax software or an accountant will tell you the amount owed. Usually, you can earn up to around 5K without having to pay taxes on it.

No, your employer will not find out about your other work - they report earnings etc TO the IRS, the IRS does not give them any extra info on you.

I do have to ask - given that your schooling is being paid for by the NHS, I assume you are training in the medical field? Given that you are only looking to make $10 a day (so...assuming you work 5 days, $50 a week), is it really worth the risk of taking a job in sex work for a little extra fun money when it could severely limit your future employment options? Or are you intending to make it more of an income during school? I feel like you could work a vanilla online jobs and make that same amount, and not have to worry about all the crap that comes with the industry - fear of being outed, lying to people about what you do, knowing that this will be on the internet for all time....I'm not trying to be judgemental - just the NHS reference sent up a little flag for me and I wanted to make sure that you are aware that the medical field often has an issue with a past in the sex industry, and will do more exhaustive background checks than other areas. I'd hate to see you go through school unaware, and then realize that you were going to find it 10x harder to get a job for the sake of a few extra bucks..
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

I'd advise you to go onto the HMRC website and find out. If you don't find the information there that you are looking for, then phone them and speak to a real person. They are normally uncharacteristically friendly and helpful. After all, it's not currently like you oweing them taxes, you're not doing anything wrong - you are just wanting to clarify your position. xx

In the UK you will not pay taxes on wages/salary if you earn less than £8105. Anything over this amount is taxed. If you were only paid £40 per year at the vanilla job then you would have paid no tax as it was under the £8105.
If you earn over £8105 in the fiscal year then you would have to pay tax.

Your parents wouldn't have any information on your taxes as this is your information as you are over 18. Your vanilla job won't find out about camming if you don't tell them.

Don't forget National Insurance Contributions...they're payable from a lower level of earnings than income tax.

Thanks for all the info and sorry for late reply!
I had that worry so I looked around and got the impression that as long as I write on my cv that I did self employed work like marketing or something and write down the right dates that they wouldn't really know? :/

Yes, but make sure that other jobs, the 'vanilla' have references readily available, so that you can skim over the sex work part more easily.

Just make sure that's a glowing reference then, or get some volunteer work going on, or a summer placement, etc. Employers like to hear from others that you are amazing.
