Default Long Blonde human hair extensions - venting!

Hi girls - especially those of you with blonde hair extensions. I am in the market for 24 inch blonde human hair to match my own (usually # 613) and need some advice or even just some commiseration lol

I am unbelievably beyond sick of the hair supply companies. Sigh. You buy beautiful human "Italian" or "European" hair Remy or otherwise blah, blah and it is the same Indian/Chinese hair, or even if it really is European it is dark hair which they basically dump in a vat of bleach and then coat in silicone so it looks good in the packet but then you wash it and it starts to matt, dread, takes an hour to comb out, I lose a ton of hair each time. And I do use good products, have tried everything from Frederic Fekkai/Kerastase/Aveda etc to Infusium/Tresemme/African-American hair products, not to mention every leave-in product on the market. The problem is the hair itself.

I spend money, I've tried every place in New York, I've tried numerous online suppliers such as Extensions plus and a couple of Atlanta companies, and various others that stylists in good New York salons have recommended. Girls always say this place or that is great but the problem is they are buying darker hair and thus the hair IS decent because it is less processed.

Does anywhere have true virgin blonde hair - i.e. unprocessed. I have found companies in Europe but they only sell wholesale, not to mention that you have to western union money before getting the actual product. And they don't accept Paypal or credit card. Hmmm.

What I need is somewhere like that though, where just like the companies buy Indian girls hair that is butt length, the companies buy long, natural virgin blonde hair. These wholesale companies say their hair is Moldovan or Ukranian or Russian, i.e natural blondes. Maybe there are some European girls out there that know somewhere in London or Northern Europe?

Thanks ladies, sorry if my frustration is coming through in this post but I am so tired of getting ripped off by hair companies selling shoddy product. It is such a scam because once it is on your head and washed you can't send it back!!! I hate being ripped off!!

I am willing to spend, because if the hair is good you should be able to wash it and wear it for months, obviously it not lasting forever, given that it is not growing or receiving natural oils from your scalp, but it still lasts and you really only change it when you just feel like some fresh hair!

    Thank you!

All extensions become shitty after awhile. I just replace mine every 3 months or so and don't wash them more than once every week or 2, and mine look great.

I searched Etsy and found these:

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/10476077...earch_type=all

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/10522413...earch_type=all

The above listings use Remy hair, I do believe. I've also heard that some synthetics are less prone to tangling, but haven't yet encountered that phenomenon myself.

    I commiserate- hope this helps.

I have a friend of a friend that just started a hair extension company that specializes in blonde extensions (in toronto, but I'm sure they will ship), I'll ask about your questions and find out if they are processed or virgin and get back to you

I use the color 613 too..Its a little too dark but I deal with it...Im not too picky though and I try not to style the hair with heating tools..It doesnt last as long that way...I never wear it straight down my back though bc u can tellt he difference too easily between my real hair and the fake...

Gawd! feel your exact pain. Well, to be quite honest with you, there are no hard facts about where any of this hair really comes from. For the most part, you are simply taking the word of the particular vendor you are purchasing your hair from or whatever your favorite YouTube guru has endorsed you to purchase. However, with the abundance of exotic virgin hair (and people saying the following: “ooo im mongolian and i did not ever know we did hair extentions!”) and the latest advent of Russian virgin hair on the market, one does have to scratch their head and wonder if this is simply anything more than a marketing ploy.

First, the term ‘virgin hair’ denotes hair that has not been processed at all aside from washing it and sewing it on to a weft. So that Peruvian loose wave you are thinking about buying, let’s think about that. Is there a tribe in Peru that has loose wavy hair who just happens to be walking into factories to have their hair chopped off? I’m serious. Where in Russia are people trading in their luscious locks for some quick change? And who really ventured out to Mongolia to find some hair? And though some people unethically sell the hair of women who cut it off for religious purposes, that doesn’t mean that when you get it, it was kept in its virgin form. All it really takes is a quick Google search to identify that most of the countries, the people, generally speaking, do not have natural hair textures that are similar to the weaves we are purchasing. Have you seen a Mongolian woman lately?

The breakout star of the exotic weaves was Brazilian virgin hair, and the majority that people buy has been debunked as being from anywhere but Brazil. While Brazilian hair does exist, it is extremely hard to find and extremely expensive at that. The one reputable vendor I knew of, closed a few years ago because of lack of supply and the costs of acquiring the hair. Brazil has one of the most booming, emerging economies in the world. I promise you there’s not a far off favela where women are desperate to give away their hair for monies. If anything, many are rising out of the favelas to start hair salons that are set to break into the American scene.

Unless you are willing to fly out the country and visit the factory to ensure that the hair is virgin and from that exact location, the best way to go about purchasing ‘virgin hair’ of quality is to let go of the ‘virgin’ title. Most hair has to be processed, either steam-processed or chemically processed, to achieve the wave/curl pattern and luster that will blend with textured hair. The bulk of the hair on the market is coming from India or China, although Southeast Asian countries are emerging on the extension scene. While Indian tends to be the more cultivated premium hair, it’s not so much about where the hair comes from as it’s about how it’s processed and the end results. Look for reputable vendors that have minimal complaints of shedding and bulky wefts. The hair needs to be evenly distributed on the weft for a good install. Take note of luster, as shiny hair is harder to blend, and understand that ‘low luster’ is most definitely processed and it’s not a bad thing. Low luster hair blends better for women with highly textured kinky hair. And lastly, you want hair that feels like real hair and is soft to the touch.

Thank you so much, you are so well informed. I did not know a lot of that information, and you are right, there seems to be very little way around it, except by trying companies with good reviews. I don't even have an issue with processing because there is a good way to get dark hair blonde, but it's more the way they do it. I do have an issue with using silicone coatings to make the hair look good in the packet, because that is just a downright deceitful practice certain companies employ when the hair turns out shitty after the ammonia bath or whatever the hell they do.

Please let me know if you do find any companies you are really happy with, and hopefully that Canadian company Odette mentioned will have something - specializing in blonde is a great start!

    Thanks again

Try aliexpress.com. That's where I get my extensions from now. They sell tons of other stuff so just put the kind of hair you want into the quick search and it'll narrow things down considerably.

You mentioned New York. Are you in New York? I have a friend who buys blonde extensions at a place in Queens. She says it's the only place that she finds reliable & inexpensive for blonde extensions, but I don't think they ship. If you live in New York I'll ask her for the name and you can check it out.

I'm on this boat-these are my go-tos over the last 8years or recently:

Foxylocks.com --I like because Imogen the owner has truer blonde selections.
Extremeexstensions.com (fb or instagram too)--long long long hair. This girl specializes in ombre or dip-dye colors but does some pretty bomb platinum shades always customized for you.
Visionhairexstension.com---cheap in both senses but Long lenghth.
Hairexstensionsale.com---same quality as above ^^ but at times cheaper.

Sally's Euronext- this is my emergency brand. Purple shampoo & toning at home is easy if you know what you're doing. They arnt terrible but they are reliable 18" if you need to pick up some hurrr quick on the go!
