Default Best Spa Treatments for Blackhead/Whithead Removal?

    Professional Extractions? Chemical Peel? Laser-something-or-other?

I've always had very soft skin on my face (not perfect - but soft), with a slightly bumpy nose from those irritating micro-blackheads that just love the T-zone. But, a quick salt scrub and simple clay mask from the drugstore always cleared things out for atleast a week.

All of a sudden, the scrub and mask combo dont work AND the itty bitty bitchy bumps have spread out to my cheeks. They arent visibly apparent (unless I gently drag my nails along the area and the little white heads come in view) but I can feel them, just under the surface. Acne spot treatments have had no luck.

So, I'm ready to do whatever it takes to nip these little fuckers in the bud before they start bursting out of my face - please help!

Glycolic acid works very well for this. A great but pricey product is MD skincare Alpha Beta peels. There are alot of spas that actually sell these as their light chemical peel. I know the ritz carlton does. I would not consider it strong enough to be a proff. peel, but for a home product the impact on the skin is remarkable. I would look for product with main ingredient glycolic acid. Not salicylic acid which is more common but not the same thing.

You may want to give this a whirl http://www.dermawand.com/index.php . I have had alot of sucess with this product. The only downside of it is that you have to use it close to an hour a day. I just watch tv or surf the net while I use it though.

glycolic acid from amazon works great and is inexpensive.

I swear by Aztec Secret Indian healing clay...

Make a clay mask with that, using ACV, and oh man....it pulls out blackheads immediately,
Leaves you with beautiful and incredibly soft skin. I follow it up with unrefined coconut oil.

I got mine online, but on my list trip to Wild Oats (or whatever its called now, I always forget)
noticed that they have it there in the beauty products aisle.

sephora has some great lasers, which help with pores, blackheads, etc.
Peels are amazing as well, there are at home chemical peels, but you must be careful with peels at home and in a spa bc they can seriously burn and ruin your skin

For blackheads, I pour some baking soda with my mint Dr. Bronner's face wash.

Apple cider mixed with witch hazel for toner.

    Retin A at night.

    hey hey,
I don't know if you heard of the oil cleansing method, but it really works. I use olive oil to clean my face. I started using this about 2 weeks ago, I had pretty skin but when you look up close you could see a bunch of tiny tiny blackheads...well...i started to research, and i found OCM. I wash my face once a day at night with olive oil. I rub it in vigirously and then I get a steaming wash cloth I put it on my face til it cools....i then rinse the cloth out, and rub the oil off. It got rid of my blackheads in 2 days. In chemistry class you heard about the "like"dissolves"like", well olive oil is close to sebum your natural skins oil...what happens is when you get blackheads your poors are not working properly and it causes them to become clogged. Why are they not working properly...it is because your skin is working over time trying to moisturize itself because the washes you are using are too drying. it strips your skin....so you get "like" oil to use on your skin...and it will loosen everything....you skin may feel like an oil slide for a few days because your pores are working properly so dont go washing your face with face wash...just let it work...once your pores are use to being cleared out they will start to work properly.its kinda like a dam in your skin...once the damn is broke all the oil will flow out. EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, sunflower oil, grapeseed oil if you have super oily skin.

Yup. After washing with warm water before going to bed. No toner before applying(the pores have to stay open). Tone the next day.

I never used it around the eye. It says to avoid that area. It never made me break out. I like retin a micro or the obagi tretinoin.

Just did this mask, and it luckily got my skin back in order. I used to feel like super scrubby stuff was the only thing that could help my nose black heads but this mask has been working for me.

Yes! I will second this. Retin A and sunscreen are the beauty products I could not live without. Retin A at night, sunscreen all day. Retin A really helps keep your pores clear and tiny, and it will help prevent you from getting fine wrinkles around your eyes and lips, and that thin crepey skin around your eyes in the future. I normally prefer natural pure oils as skincare rather than expensive spa products, but I've been suckered into the media hype, and bought enough $600 bottles of face cream to know that there are only a handful of products worth splurging on. Retin A is one of them. I had a dermatologist suggest that I could use the Retin A to get my skin where I wanted it and then maintain it for several months with a less expensive, OTC retinol product, like ROC. Or mix a little bead of Retin A with my night cream in my hand to make it last. You really only need the tiniest bit to be effective, and this method actually helps curb the side effects too.
