Default anyone else battling addiction with methadone or suboxone?

i started methadone aug 2011 then went on suboxone off of 85 mg methadone 8 months later ..i feel ok, not sick anymore but completely sober. wich is a good thing but i've been dealing with addiction since i was a teenager, almost ten years..i quit for all very good reasons and I'm proud of myself, next step is getting totally off expensive suboxone! the past 6 months have been awful tho and i feel the urge to use pretty bad..anyone else out there dealing with that?

No, I've never dealt w/ that particular demon -but I still battle my own personal demons on & off -& have known a couple different people w/ your particular vice (in fact, one of them passed due to it). So I say congratulations, good luck & keep fighting the good fight, doll face! :*

I wish you all the best..... Of course it hard with no support.... That's why you should try extra hard to use support groups if they are available.... Don't let your guard down.... Stay strong.

I've never dealt with your situation before either, but have had friends and aquaintances that did.

I became friends with another dancer (several years ago) when she asked me if she could sit with me during slow periods at the club. She explained that she was on the methadone program and she wanted to be around people who didn't use. We had alot in common- we both loved animals and were involved with rescue groups, and we both liked to design and sew clothing.

Sadly, I felt her pulling away and she went back to heroin. I don't know what happened to her. She was really beautiful inside and out and I miss her friendship.

Maybe you could find support by becomming involved in more interests where straight people hang out. Just being around a different mindset can help sometimes.

I was in the same boat as you my dear! I am still on Methadone (went from 150mg down to 9mg) and I still go the clinic, but only once a week (take homes). I felt some withdrawls and had to stop working (dancing at the time, I escort now) while going through them. My urge to use was unreal! But, I really kept at it and pushed hard to come out of it all with a semi-smile on my face. It was hard, but the Methadone Anon Support Group's online forum really helped me get through some hard times, when I felt like I just HAD to use. They have given me some great tips & tricks about getting through the sickness while going down on your dose. I would check it out if I we're you! I hope they can help you just as they did me. Also, check out youtube for "Getting through Methadone & Suboxone Tapers". They have some great videos there too. Those two things and my family is how I got through those awful nights and mornings. If you need anything PM me!
