I worked several nights in a row and go to school too so I had no time to make it to the bank and my money kept adding up. I had over $2000 hidden at my apartment and when I got home from work at 3am I saw that the bolt on my door had been broken off and all my money had been taken (even the $5 bill I had on my end table as well as a pack of cigarettes). I didn't even bother to call the police because I live in Detroit and Detroit police don't care. It just really sucks to have such a large sum taken from me and to know that someone was in my apartment while I was gone and I don't know whoI have a feeling of who it could be, seeing as how I've lived in the apartment complex for 15 months and nothing has ever happened but a woman and her boyfriend (they are both crackheads) just moved in a couple weeks ago and now this happens; they were very suspicious and the next morning the woman was on my floor even though she lives two floors down, and when she saw me she said "hi" and went back downstairs. I won't be making the mistake of keeping large sums of money at home anymore and I am moving ASAP to a suburb. I live by myself and no longer feel safe. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I'm trying to push passed this, it just sucks because the two grand was almost half of what I owe my university
If anyone has words of encouragement, PLEASE send them my way, I need whatever advice anyone has to pick my mood up.

I'd still report it to both the police and the landlord just so there's a trail in case this happens to you again, which, if it is the people who just moved in, it in all likelihood might. The landlord should also be able to change your locks to more secure ones, at the very least. Do you have a safe? It might be a wise investment depending on how long it'll take you to find somewhere new to live.
