Haven't seen any mention of this on change.org. Saw it in the comments of a Best Friends announcement asking for donations.
new York City's Animal Control Center has a policy of killing animals after three days there.
They have not modified the rule to allow time for residents without power, internet, etcetera time
to find their pets (or gas to come get them.)
IF you like in New York City or the surrounding and want to adopt or foster death row dogs
who are likely someone's pet they haven't hooked up with, please go to the bottom of page two in the comments here:
http://www.bestfriends.org/News-And-...ndy/#idc-cover
There is a sister organization you would have to go through to foster rather than adopt that's also mentioned in the comments but I cannot recall it off hand.
Also, political pressure has to be brought to bear a) to immediately stop this process for now to give new yorkers time to get their pets back, and also b) to change this from a high kill shelter to something that gives the animals more time. The facebook page at the bottom of page two has about twelve cats and twelve insanely cute and/or scared-looking dogs.
So please look up the mayor's and governer's email/fax#/address and shoot them a letter with your opinion on NYC ACC's current handling of the situation, and if you have an opinion on their normal three day.before death policy, include that as well.
Thanks!
