Default Vegas logistics (Tgiving weekend or 1st of Dec)

Just got back last night from a Monday-Thursday trip to Vegas. Went midweek to 1- get things (sheriff's card, auditions, etc) done without waiting in ridiculous lines and 2- hotels are, of course, cheaper.

Want to go back either Thanksgiving weekend or the following (when a huge conference is in town, and maybe run the marathon on Sunday night!)

    My questions:

I saw a flyer posted in Sapphire's dressing room about discounts for entertainers at a couple of hotels (Artisan and one other). Is it worth paying $50-70/nt, plus $300 for flight from Denver, to work for the weekend?

2-Also debating about staying somewhere close (Circus Circus is right there and can be cheap) or staying at an affordable spot on/near the strip and utilizing the complimentary limo pickups to get to Sapphire in lieu of renting a car. Is that service for custies only?

I know Vegas on a weekend has significantly better financial potential than weekdays, but investing so much to get/stay out there is a little nerve wracking!

PM me with your thoughts if you don't want to post them. Much thanks, much love!

I didn't see this covered in any of the other Vegas threads, but if I just spaced and missed it, feel free to post the link

Artisan is a good deal, but the rooms are so dark that it made putting on makeup really difficult. Plus, I'd work from 9pm-5am and get back to the hotel and not be able to sleep because of the afterhours party they have.

Circus Circus is a great deal, and where I've stayed the most whenever I go out, but because I developed a gambling addiction, I try and stay at hotels without casinos.

Both Circus Circus & Artisan are like an $8 cab ride to SR or Sapphire.
I worked at Sapphire one night, and was told that they have car service for dancers, but I didn't take the guy up on the offer because the cab ride was so cheap.

Also, if you haven't worked in Vegas before, I'd recommend starting on a weekday rather than a weekend so that you can get in the swing of things and figure out the club layout before it's so busy that you can hardly move around.

Thanks Fiona! I went last week to get everything set up and get hired at a few places. I also looked into cab fares in addition to which hotels have free shuttles to/from the airport and to/from the Strip. The only reason I try to stay awa from hotels with casinos is because of the resort fees I don't care much for gambling.

That's interesting that the Artisan's rooms are so dark. And what's the afterhours party there about? Is it every day, or just weekends? Are all the resorts like that (should I get the chance to stay at one of them!)

Resort Fees at Circus Circus were cheap!

The afterhours party is on the weekends. And I doubt many other hotels are as loud. Artisan is small.

I'm here I did A LOT better Thursday night thanlast night! As for hotels, I think I'll stick with whatever flight/hotel deal is affordable at a decent and decently close place. And looks like cab fares aren't atrocious (I walked from the airport to my hotel on Thursday since I arrived in the afternoon, but my flight Monday is in the evening so I will be cabbing it!)

And I just got a ticket to tomorrow's Thunder from Down Under show, though I wish I had a sash that says "I'm a Dancer Too!" so I can get attention in addition to the bachelorettes

I was actually curious about how Thanksgiving weekend would be because I know so many people who went out to Vegas for the weekend so I can't imagine it was terrible.
Have fun at Thunder Down Under!

Hey CoraB, How is the money in vegas right now? My friends in Cali said it hasn't been good...I've been thinking about making a trip there just for the hell of it...see if I still have my vegas mojo hustle.
