Default Making my own clip-in hair extensions

    Hi there

I've been reading here forever (but never post) and have learned soooo much from you all about...everything! I bought a weft of pretty human hair a while ago from Sally Beauty and am just getting around to sewing in the clips for extensions. I want it for volume, not length - my hair is about mid-back length but I want it to be thicker and bigger.

I've read here that most people recommend doubling the weft (folding a piece in half) for thicker clip-ins, so I'll do that but I'm trying to figure out what length to cut each piece. I have never had a set of extensions before so I've been looking at the sets sold online and youtube videos - seems like most of them have 2 pieces of 8" (4 clips), 2 of 6" (3 clips), and then it really varies...some sets have 4 pieces of 4" (2 clips), some have 12 pieces of 1.5" (1 clip)...etc.

My question is - what does your set have? Or what do you wish it had? To clarify, when I talk about inches here, I'm not talking about the length of the hair, I'm talking the horizontal measurement, like how long the piece is as it fits to your head. I hope that makes sense.

Anyway, if some of you could give me an idea as to which configuration of pieces works best for you, that would really help me decide how to cut up this 64" long weft of hair!

    Thanks so much.

I make my own clip ins. I just measure my head for each area I want if that makes sense. Just put them in as you make them and youll see where you need more. I only double the clips in the back and my sides (my hair is thinning there)and do single in front so its not bulky. Dont fold the clips in half just cut it, things with clips is you want them to look and lay as natural as possible. It a tedious process but so worth it vs paying for already made ones
