Default Twilight sedation for nose job.

I've wanted a nose job on and off for years, but I always thought the used general anesthetic for this so didn't do it.
I have pretty bad medical anxiety stemming from the fact that someone close to me died in hospital while on life support.
I even recently went to my GP for a general check up and bloodwork, and by the time I had the blood out I was literally running out of the lab.

But I'm really interested in the nose job. So I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with twilight sedation, and if it helps with the anxiety I'm talking about?
Also, what does it feel like? I hear you aren't completely under and this is attractive to me because I have such a fear of this.

I've had it done, twice. The first time I was wide awake for the whole thing and I have horrible anxiety that puts me in the ER but I was fine. I chatted with the doctor on and off and he told me what I was doing and what to expect. I really didn't care...must have been the drugs. However by the end I could start to feel some irritation but it was over right after that. An hour later I walked home from the hospital, passed out that night, woke up the next morning like nothing had happened adn didn't take a single Tylenol for any pain. All in all, a decent experience. Second time around they knew better, knocked me out with some crazy shit, never been that high in my life. Everything was hilarious. They took me into the OR and I thanked everyone for being there. I woke up in recovery and hour later and an hour after that walked home again from the hospital, passed out, and woke up like nothing happened. I highly recommend this way of surgery, the recovery is so much easier and really, you are too high to care about anything. Make sure to explain to your doc that you have bad anxiety and be sure that you are seeing a doc that is top of his game. I also recommend having it done in a hospital just because I trust them more. Either way, relax, bring a friend or family...once those drugs are in you you'll be fine! Please let us know how it goes!

Thanks that's what I was wondering..if the drugs relaxed you.
I'm only an anxious person in certain situations, mainly medical and especially if it involves unconsciousness and hospitals.
They remind me of death for personal reasons so I really think I will go the twilight route, which the doctor I'm thinking of using prefers.

Thanks again! I will let you know if I think of anything further!

you can ask your doctor/anesthesiologist to prescribe you a pill or two of an anti anxiety medication. you'll fill that prescription along with your others the day before and take it the morning of your surgery and your anesthesiologist will adjust your dose of sedatives accordingly.

They usually won't do that because of the interaction of the twilight meds ( usually demerol). Once they give you that you will be on cloud 9 and not give a shit about anything.
