Random Question for Canadian girls on this forum-

where/how would an American order archival movies and TV shows from the Canadian Broadcasting Channel (I'm assuming that's the Canadian version of the USA's Public Broadcasting System)? I need some of these programs as reference material for things I write.

About a decade ago I randomly ended up with some CBC movies on a DVD (friends got the DVD somewhere on the border so I can't say where it came from.)

Just wondering if the Canadian gov. has a website for this, or if I'd actually have to go myself to a Canadian library to start tracking down info.

Why would a job application require your work history in two separate sections? This is an unnecessary copy/paste I'm going to have to do..

^ Yes! That is annoying, as are job applications that have you upload a resume, only to require you to fill everything out manually. It's super annoying.

I feel like I'm living in a damn Twilight Zone episode or Stephen King novel today. Nobody in sight outside. Nobody driving by. All local restaurants and businesses are closed so no noise from that. Nothing outside other than birds and squirrels. I almost wish a telemarketer would call, just so I could have some adult interaction.

I miss the original 80s Madonna I've been binge watching some of her older stuff & when I see her stuff of today I'm just blah. Its not stimulating to me anymore. I miss her boy toy punk look she had, I feel like she's morphed into something else that doesn't suit her very well.

    She definitely has.

We had a club meeting yesterday at 2 PM. Very encouraging. The owner said 'I have no idea which reports on how long this will last are accurate, so I'm not going to repeat them. But I can tell you this--we will be one of the very first clubs to reopen when we get the word, like that same night. (We did this right after the hurricane, too!) You can go somewhere else to shelter if you want, but my advice to a friend or family member would be to stay right here.'

I think there's enough of us thinking this way to ensure a strong comeback.

I made a very quick pharmacy run to Safeway and unknowingly dropped my debit card while using an sanitizer wipe. I searched my pockets three times before heading back to the counter to ask if, by some miracle, someone had turned it in.

My card was right where dropped it!

    A rare win for me.

My state has been hit hard. They just announced today that there will be no more school for the rest of the school year. My kid is going nuts being indoors all the time. I'm getting stir crazy too. This is when I wish I was rich and had an indoor swimming pool or home gym to let the kid burn off some energy.

As the article states, that is completely illegal, further, the HOA can't evict, no state has self eviction, the judge will just give the HOA the middle finger, and you simply can't foreclose for a "violation" with that time frame.

You point, however, is extremely valid. This particular HOA is filled with people who are ignorant of the laws, grossly incompetent, and puffed-up buffoons who shouldn't possess any authority at all.

Here is one I read recently. If the activity is not detectable from outside the property, it is permitted. (No I do not live there). I believe one of the homeowners association fees finances a program which tells what you are allowed to think, or something like that. It is suggested you read the relevant documents before you buy.

ARTICLE VII SPECIFIC USE RESTRICTIONS SECTION 1. SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCES. Each and every Lot in the Properties is hereby restricted to one (1) Single Family Residence and related outbuildings and improvements, including guest houses, servants quarters and greenhouses, and use for single-family residential purposes exclusively and no Single Family Residence shall be occupied by more than a single family which for purposes hereof shall mean and refer to any number of individuals living together as a single household unit, and the household employees of such household unit. No garage sale, yard sale, moving sale, rummage sale or similar activity and no trade or business may be conducted in or from any Lot, except that an Owner or Occupant may conduct business activities within the Single Family Residence so long as: (a) the existence or operation of the business activity is not apparent or detectable by sight, sound or smell from outside the Lot; (b) the business activity does not involve persons coming onto the Properties who do not reside in the Properties or door-to-door solicitation of residents of the Properties; and (c) the business activity is consistent with the residential character of the Properties and does not constitute a nuisance, or a hazardous or offensive use, or threaten the security or safety of other residents of the Properties, as may be determined in the sole discretion of the Board. The Board is authorized to promulgate rules and regulations to insure that home businesses comply with the above standards and to make factual determinations regarding the impact of a home business on the residential character of the Properties. If, in the judgment of the Board, a home business has a detrimental impact on the residential quality of the Properties or otherwise constitutes a nuisance, it is authorized to require that the Owner cease the home business or alter it to the Board's satisfaction. Notwithstanding anything contained in this Section, the Association may sponsor a community wide garage sale or rummage sale at such location or locations as the Board deems appropriate from time to time. The terms "business" and "trade", as used in this provision, shall be construed to have their ordinary, generally accepted meanings, and shall include, without limitation, any occupation, work or activity undertaken on an ongoing basis which involves the provision of goods or services to persons other than the provider's family and for which the provider receives a fee, compention, or other form of consideration, regardless of whether: (i) such activity is engaged in full or part- time; (ii) such activity is intended to or does generate a profit; or (iii) a license is required therefor. Notwithstanding the above, the leasing of a Single Family Residence shall not be considered a trade or business within the meaning of this Section. This Section shall not apply to any activity conducted by the Declarant or by a Builder with the approval of the Declarant, with respect to the development and sale of the Lots and Single Family Residences in the Properties

Right after we bought this house a group of busy bodies from up north tried to create a HOA. Up until seven years ago this area was classified as a rural spot. Now all of that has changed...almost. The HOA proposal keeps getting struck down, but now the people who're pushing it are being sneaky and underhanded. They're calling the police on people and reporting every little offense. They tried to create a petition stating what home colors were acceptable, people shouldn't park boats in the driveway, more street lights....and this is without an actual HOA.

I have a food truck that I'm operating out of my additional backyard space. Someone reported me and you know what the police did when they showed up? They ordered food to go! Now I give them free expressos whenever I set up shop. I keep waiting for these complainers to wake up and realize that they live in Florida. Just mind ya business, let people live, enjoy the weather and everything will be okay.
